"It is no longer enough to know about anatomy and pathology. The biopsychosocial approach opens a whole new perspective on how people behave and cope with illne...ss. It reveals the limitations of our treatment and of our professional skills. It exposes us to the difficulties and stress of dealing with emotions. The muscles of the feet are often ignored and under appreciated. They perform so many important functions, including assisting with plantar and dorsiflexion, bal...ance, proprioception, and core stability. When the toe flexors overwork, as in seeing people grip their toes to create stability, the core is usually weak. Toe flexors can create neck pain from wearing flip flops. Why? Because toe gripping puts our weight forward, and our necks have to go back to balance this out. The toe extensors also overwork when the hip flexors/quads and core don’t function neurologically. This can create ankle pain and shin pain. In NKT we examine these kind f relationships so that we can reprogram the brain to function properly. I know you like your flip flops in the Summer, but consider your neck. See more
