Madam C.J. Walker (born Sarah Breedlove; December 23, 1867 May 25, 1919) A inspiration for all women, who despite being born in 1867,made her dreams come true. In a time with all of the odds going against her. Being a woman and being a woman of colour. Her perseverance, grit passion, courage, determination is truly inspiring. I wish I could have met her. A true leader and pioneer for women. A mentor for women entrepreneurs. Walker made her fortune by developing and market...ing a line of cosmetics and hair care products for black women through the business she founded, Madam C. J. Walker Manufacturing Company. She became known also for her philanthropy and activism. At the time of her death, she was considered the wealthiest African-American businesswoman and wealthiest self-made black woman in America. Walker's method of grooming was designed to promote hair growth and to condition the scalp through the use of her products.The system included a shampoo, a pomade stated to help hair grow, strenuous brushing, and applying iron combs to hair; the method claimed to make lackluster and brittle hair become soft and luxuriant.
