The META 2014 Award for Technological Innovation goes to Alexandre Lalonde for his art piece entitled The Orchestra. This piece is an immersive music-based installation that showcases a symphonic orchestra made up of multiple computers, or "musicians." The audience takes on the role of conductor or "Maestro," and can conduct the piece using a variety of hand gestures. the artificial intelligence for each computer has a personality, which determines whether the "musician" is willing to follow the orchestra or not.

Finally the META 2014 People's Choice Award goes to Jessica Plume and Danica Smiljanic for their collaboration behind the art piece entitled WTF. This piece is a fully immersive three minute documentary film that explores the paradoxical disconnect between people that is caused by our constant connection to technologies such as our mobile phones and social media. The video is presented in a cube, with four synched screens which discusses the public's opinions and responses to various questions and facts pertaining to social media.
