On October 12th, we were notified two of our staff members were diagnosed with COVID-19. The health unit has since determined there were possible exposures on October 8th and 10th. Since their diagnosis, we have closed our doors, and all of our staff took COVID-19 tests and have tested negative. That said, we will remain closed to ensure none of our other employees develop symptoms and give us time to carry out a thorough cleaning of our facility. We have been in contact with... the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit and have offered them our list of customers to conduct contact tracing, and they will be in touch if they have any concerns; however, they have deemed our situation Low Risk. We are closing our doors, not because we’ve been ordered to, but because we feel it’s the right thing to do. We want to be sure there is no chance for community spread and that our staff are safe. Before this incident, we followed health unit guidelines to the letter, sometimes at some of our customers’ dismay. We have required masks to be worn by our staff and our patrons when needed. We have thoroughly cleaned all common surfaces after each group and have implemented special precautions behind the scenes in our staff areas and the kitchen. The health unit will be back to inspect our restaurant and confirm our practices are sound before reopening. We know in a pandemic this was bound to happen, but it doesn’t make it any less shocking for our team or our customers. We just want you, our valued customers, to know we have and will continue to have your safety top of mind.
