No time like the present to get started on your goals! Or not. In the sea of internet posts written on the topic Navigation Psychology offers a balanced take and is worth the quick read.
We have changed more than just our profile pic in the last year but haven’t been very good at sharing the updates. We ‘resolve’ to be more active on this page in the months ahead but for now, wishing everyone a safe and healthy start to the New Year!
It doesn’t always need to be therapy to be therapeutic. Minaa B. Archbold, LMSW has created a list of cheap and easy ways to bring a little peace into your life.
With only four weeks to go till the annual family vacay I've got the beach on the brain.
Therapy jokes. Like dad jokes, only about therapy.

I read an article this morning by a world famous researcher on happiness that was long and full of ad's. I thought I'd spare you the time it took me and get to the most important point; she agrees with me. According to the article Happy People: 1. Enjoy good social connections... 2. Have a mindset of gratitude, self compassion and being present 3. Are involved in projects they find rewarding (not necessarily chores but it could be). 4. Have healthy lifestyle habits including exercise and good sleep. For more about what the smart doc has to say:
Weird times we are in. Put down a few things that have been helping me. Let me know what you think.

It's that joyful/stressful time of year. This post is written by my wife and offers a few of her ideas on how to manage the holiday season. I can't help but notice that my suggestions of, "get out of the way" and "let your wife handle it", didn't make the cut.
I don’t think it needs to be World Mental Health Day for this to be applicable. Maybe it is even more so this time of year. Reach out, check in, let people know we are all in this together. #gingersunite
Good advice for anyone who is grieving or knows someone who is. Helpful during the holidays, or any time really.
I chronically underutilize my benefits plan but I've seen a few good reminders lately that benefits don't roll over into the next year and so I might actually do something different this time. . For many of the health services that are covered, physiotherapy, counselling, acupuncture etc. now is a good time to book as a means to help manage this stressful time of year. . Think of it like Black Friday for your health.
The search for distractions from the realities of life often begins early. In fact, it may even be taught to us as children. As adults we do get breaks for short periods of time. These moments, however, are fleeting, hard to earn and difficult to hold onto. If only there was another way, a shortcut even
What you do every day matters more than what you do once in a while. - Gretchen Rubin
Powerful imagery of a common experience.
A simple three step process that might be useful to keep in mind for those with children headed back to school. Works for adults too.
My blog posts have been sidetracked by summer holidays. Finally put some thoughts together on the topic of gratitude.
I like the way Lisa Olivera Therapy, LMFT #106546 thinks.
There is some good advice in here. It's worth the quick read.
To be a parent is to be a gardener a gardener in an emotional, unpredictable, chaotic plot of land that you're totally devoted to despite constant self-doubt and lack of clear instructions. ~ Tyra Damm
Renowned expert in parenting, stress, health and addiction, Gabor Maté has a simple yet profound message, "When you treat children well, they're going to be OK and if you don't treat them well, they're not going to be OK."
I like his perspective.
