Make sure to watch in HD - The smallest of BC's Pacific salmon, Pink salmon are also populous and the least vulnerable to extinction. They weigh from three to eleven pounds, and measure 18 to 24 inches long. They exhibit the least dependence on freshwater, starting immediately for the ocean upon emerging from their redds (redds are the nests where salmon get their start). Because of their small size, they are especially likely to travel in schools for protection. Pink salmon have the shortest lifespans of Pacific salmon: two years. They return to freshwater to spawn either in even or odd years; those that return in even years are genetically distinct from those returning in odd years.

The Puget Sound king crab is not difficult to recognize, with its ornate carapace structure and bright colouring. Its red body bears patches of bright yellow, orange, blue, and purple as do its legs and claws and it has a solid, boxy shape. Its carapace and appendages are studded with small bumps and taller cone-shaped projections. This large and solid crab, described by Lamb and Hanby as an "underwater mini army tank," can have a carapace measuring more than 30 cm across. #discovercampbellriver #pudgetsoundkingcrab

Discovery Passage has some of the best cold diving in the world. The fast moving waters caused by large tidal exchanges give life to a massive amount of colorful invertebrates. Can’t wait to explore the area more over the winter. #discovercampbellriver #coldwaterdiving #invertabrates
