So I hit a demoralizing bump in the road but I'm still alive and still fighting so that's the win. with the stress of the house sale and the fact that we had no... where to go during lockdown showings I put about 5 lbs back on. I remind myself that there was no where else to go or eat so fast food was the unfortunate only option. I remind myself that during times of high stress it is sometimes just a fact of life that you might add on a couple lbs. It has been especially demoralizing because I managed to continue doing cardio workouts every morning even on the weekend. In this moment I have to stop myself from thinking the negative, I stop myself from seeing only the bad outcome and remind myself of the success. It is a huge success to build the habit of working out every day, not only for my physical health but more importantly for my mental health. It is all about habit creation. There is different information out there in habit literature, some say 30 days and some say as much as 66 days to create a new habit. I have been effectively getting up at 0500 and doing my routine for 7 weeks now. This means that it is safely a habit and actually easier for me to do than to not do. When formulating new habits it is important to remember not to try and erase bad ones at the same time. The best way to crush old bad habits is to engage new good ones first. Give yourself something to lean on, something to look forward to and then start slowly chipping away at the bad ones. For me now that the first phase of my workout plan is engaged I will continue working to add in my second daily workout. Once I safely have circuit training to lean on each day I will much more easily let go of nicotine as my primary bad habit. Habit creation and deletion is a hard process, a messy one at times. Always remember to have self compassion during the process, celebrate the little victories and don't get caught up in self hatred when a small failure is realized. It's a process, but we can all take control of our lives, we can all have healthy habits and iradicate the bad ones. Keeo fighting, the victory is worth the temporary internal chaos. God bless and stay safe See more

gratitude is at the core of my daily routine. it is so important to be grateful for everything in our life, even the bad stuff. When being grateful it is easy t...o get attached to monetary possessions. it is important to separate yourself from these things and be grateful for the experience that they bring and not the actual thing. attachment like comparison can be the thief of joy. Allow yourself to be grateful for a thing but to not be attached to it. everything in this life is borrowed, everything has an expiry. See more
