Inspirational quote of the day!!
Attention dancers: NEW ballet barre & coaching series!! Check out our new Instagram TV series which includes Ballet Barre & Coaching for anyone with previous ballet experience. Please know that this footage was filmed by Tanya Vadurova in her last private lesson with Jennifer Hunter before closing MDC doors because of the COVID-19 virus impromptu! We are posting this footage to benefit of all of you during this time of isolation and living room dance training. Enjoy your pri...vate class with the artistic director of Mission Dance Centre & Company as you train along with her while also receiving corrections and tips for technical details! Please be sure to listen to Jen's corrections, these are tips anyone can apply while training. In this series you will be presented with ballet exercises and live coaching that could be used by many levels (MDC's Apprentice 2 to Junior Company levels). Feel free to adjust any exercise to better suit your level by: 1. taking away or adding more arms 2. repeating twice for more of a work out 3. Taking away or adding rises through the whole barre 4. repeat the whole barre in the centre for even more strengthening (careful that you are using all the right posture muscles at all times!) Please also feel free to ask questions and we will do our best to answer them all! Happy training and don't forget that stretching is done best when you are super warm in your muscles, so take advantage of being warm after the barre and do all your regular stretches then (more on stretching coming up). REMINDER: Stretching should not hurt especially not sharp pains. Always be gentle and aware of how your body is feeling. A gentle dull pull is a normal feeling when you are stretching. Never tense your muscles while stretching them - work the muscle and then relax into stretching that same muscle you just worked - that should keep you going for now until we can regroup and adjust to our country's emergency situation. Happy training!!
Please stay informed & stay safe! We hope to see you all back in the studio as soon as possible.
