We all love the lake, so if you see something that is damaging to the shoreline or to the lake (such as using a bobcat on the shoreline to remove trees) please phone it in to the Alberta Environment Hotline at 1-800-222-6514. We need to protect our shorelines as they provide valuable habitat to birds, and areas for fish to spawn, as well as plants that protect and improve water quality.
Check out this opportunity to hear about not only Moose Lake, but other lakes in the Province.

A few people were curious about trying to save their trees this summer around the lake from Beavers. Here is a snippet of an article on Painting Trees to Deter Beavers. Have you ever enjoyed a picnic at the beach, only to find that the wind blew sand into your sandwich? That unpleasant feeling of grit on teeth is the idea behind the newest form of beaver co-existence and management tool being used in Fish Creek Provincial Park, in Calgary. Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) is considering a proposed disturbance standard under the Public Lands Administration Regulation. This disturbance standard a...ddresses the approval process to place a mooring structure in a waterbody, such as a dock, boat lift, swimming platform or buoy anchor. AEP engaged with stakeholders and some affected landowners on the proposed draft disturbance standard in May 2020, and are now looking for further feedback! You can provide your feedback at the link below: https://www.alberta.ca/mooring-standards-engagement.aspx

Properly designed and maintained wastewater treatment systems effectively reduce or eliminate most human health or environmental threats posed by pollutants in household wastewater. However, they require regular maintenance or they can fail. Failing systems are expensive to repair or replace, and poor maintenance is often the culprit. Systems need to be monitored to ensure that they work properly throughout their service lives. Check out this webinar to ensure that your syste...m is working properly to help protect our lake. Regular septic maintenance is one of the actions to help Keep Our Lake Blue! The two webinars are the same, just on different days so hopefully one will work in your schedule.
