In 1987, the Muskoka Builders’ Association formed to unite Builders, Suppliers, Trade Contractors and Service Professionals who are devoted to professionalism in the building industry. More than 30 years later, this hard working, well respected not for profit group of building professionals, continue to set the standard for construction quality and business ethics within the industry. With the membership embracing their leadership role and core goal of individual commitment t...o a group effort, they have decided to rally together during these uncertain times that surround the families in Muskoka Parry Sound. As a result, they are kickstarting a COVID-19 fundraising campaign and pledging a $10,000 donation on behalf of our members. This $100,000.00 fundraising initiative will see the Muskoka Builders' Association and its membership donate all the funds raised to local Food Banks and Shelters as well as local Hospitals and their Foundations. Our charities of choice (in no particular order) include, but are not limited to: - Manna Food Bank, Bracebridge - Table Soup Kitchen Foundation, Huntsville - Harvest Share Community Food Program, Parry Sound - West Muskoka Food Bank, Port Carling - Muskoka Women's Advocacy Group - South Muskoka Hospital Foundation - Huntsville Hospital Foundation - West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation Every dollar counts. Most noticeable in the picture is the Muskoka granite stone fireplace, generously donated by: Andy Leonard, The Fireplace Stop Grant & Sharon Watkinson, Shoreline Construction Ltd Hospice Muskoka is a volunteer-driven, community based, not-for-profit organization providing compassionate support to individuals and their loved ones of all ages and backgrounds, who are coping with end-of-life issues that has been serving the residents of South and West Muskoka since 1995. On July 20, 2005, Constable Andrew Potts and partner Matt Hanes of the OPP were involved in a car accident while on duty. Tragically, Andy was killed, and Matt was seriously injured. In 2006, The Andy Potts Memorial Foundation was created to raise money for community projects in Andy’s name. Since 2012, the Foundation worked tirelessly to successfully raise $ 3.5 million to build Andy’s House, an integrated Hospice Palliative Care Hub. The facility is just under 10,000 square feet, with a structural slab on helical piles, exterior walls constructed from ICF, wood trusses with a steel roof, wood siding and Muskoka granite exterior stone. The building was designed to be durable and energy efficient with the roof insulation reaching R80. Greystone was excited for the opportunity to participate in such an amazing project: "In October 2020 - with the help of our community including many Muskoka based, local contractors, suppliers, volunteers, and donors who dedicated their time, energy, and resources to this project Andy’s House officially opened its doors to residents for the first time.
