Hello MYC families. We must comply with the new Ontario Emergency Brake restrictions and revert to Zoom lessons again, hopefully just for 4 weeks. As always we thank you and your children for your patience, resilience and good humour as we navigate these times

Today we celebrate the birthdays of 2 of the greatest composers of all time, Johann Sebastian Bach and Joseph Hadyn. Here’s a couple fun facts about them: Bach ...had a total of 20 children - Haydn had none, but musicians who worked for him affectionately called him Papa Haydn. Both Bach and Hadyn worked as Kapellmeisters (Music Directors) for the courts of Princes. When Bach died, his music began to fall out of fashion, but years later, Haydn and other composers were a large part of its revival through both performing and studying Bach’s pieces.

Love the old-school games. My own children played this one beginning 25 years ago with my oldest. Each article of clothing has a task on the back--name the note, clap the rhythm, identify the term--and then hang it up on the clothesline. We will return to in-studio lessons on Wednesday this week, as permitted by the lifting of the Stay at Home Order. We will continue to be vigilant with our protocols. The power of music and dance Marta Gonzalez was a prima ballerina in New York in 1967. In spite of Alzheimer's, the choreography comes back to her as she listens to Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. So moving.

Sunbeams One students were introduced to our busiest rhythm this week, Busy Beaver. They will enjoy this story where Thelonius Beaver isn't very busy...or is he?
