Since we will be busy in the bakery tomorrow I thought I would take some time today to reflect on this past year and share with you some highlights. 2020 has been a year many of us would probably like to forget, and, in many ways wouldn’t that be nice? However, we did have some great moments and we hope you did as well. Here are a few of our highlights: 1. We were able to remain open and continue baking through the entire year.... 2. Demand grew substantially due to so many more of you shopping and supporting locally... Thank you! 3. Sonja, our pie specialist joined our bakery in June. What a gem she has been! 4. Miriam joined us in September when Nathaniel was injured and stayed with us up until Christmas. We will miss her but wish her great success wherever she goes. 5. Our crops were not hailed out which means we will have plenty of seed for our crops for the bakery this coming season. 6. Nathaniel’s injury didn’t require surgery so he was back in the bakery sooner than expected. 7. Jerry & Matthew have continued supporting us by representing us at the market every weekend. 8. Bountiful Farmers’ Market has remained open and has supported their vendors tremendously through this challenging year. We are so grateful for the opportunity to be apart of their market. 9. The shutdown of our local farmers’ markets in the Spring opened up the opportunity for us to welcome customers out at the bakery on our farm. 10. We broke several records throughout the year: over 300 pies at Thanksgiving, over 200 Christmas cookie tins, 720 tarts on our last weekend before Christmas, over 600 cinnamon buns on our last weekend, over 700 loaves of bread most weekends. Many other records were set and broken throughout the year thanks to your continuing support. We could not have survived this last year without the support and encouragement from all of you, from our market staff, from our bakery staff, from our suppliers, from our family and friends. Thank you so much for helping make 2020 a memorable year. We look forward to seeing what 2021 brings. We’re looking forward to creating new items, new recipes and improving and learning new techniques to bring you more products.

Happy birthday, Nate (Nathaniel to his mother)!! This young man is our head baker. He is hard working, caring, patient (except when his mother has a new idea for a new recipe...). He is kind, gentle, strong and protective. I cannot run this bakery without him. We pray this next year will be exciting, adventurous and full of opportunities to learn and grow in wisdom and knowledge.

We will post next week what we will have available for January 2nd-3rd for both farm/bakery pick up and at Bountiful Farmers’ Market. With love and appreciation, Jerry, Nadine, Nathaniel & Matthew

I’ve heard it said that practice makes perfect. Although these aren’t quite perfect we are getting better at shaping bagels. We still like the homemade, hand shaped look. Pictured below is our plain bagels, sesame bagels and our everything bagels.

Who’s ready for pumpkin pie? We have found some fresh pumpkins this week which means we will be roasting ‘em up for pies. Remember, we don’t use that stuff from a can. Oh no we don’t! We use fresh roasted pumpkins in our pumpkin pies. Haters of pumpkin pie have been won over with our version. The texture and flavour is very different than the traditional canned version. We are starting to take orders for Thanksgiving weekend. Don’t wait too long to order if you’re wanting one (or more, we won’t tell ).
