Seguidilla, from Salzedo’s Suite of Eight Dances. This piece is found in RCM grade 8, list C. Short, fast and super fun! The clarity and quick pedal changes are tricky with the fast tempo. It’s an audience favorite, and a great piece for an encore! I’m in the market for new mic’ing equipment as my current mic doesn’t seem to like the middle register of the harp (hence, any extra buzzing you may hear in my recordings!). If you have a recommendation of a mic that you reall...y love, drop it in the comments or send me a message. . #recordingproject #royalconservatoryofmusic #ottawaharpacademy #seguidilla #youtube #harp #harpist #harpteacher #harpstudent #spanish #suite #harpistlife #pedalharp #lyonandhealy #instamusic #musicianlife #ottawamusic #ottawaharpist

Here’s Theme and Variations, by Haydn (transc. Salzedo). RCM Grade 10, List B. This piece is all about clarity, personality, and evenness. There are actually 6 variations, but Salzedo’s transcription only includes 4. Hasselmans did a transcription that includes all variations. The Good Little King of Yvetot, in RCM Grade 2, List A. Found in #suzukiharp , Book 1. As I child I studied the Suzuki books, both on harp and piano, so this piece brings back many fond memories! The focus in this piece is on keeping the thumb high, and second finger low and raising!! The student learns how to place multiple fingers simultaneously, and use directional placing (placing all fingers for the direction the notes are going: 3 notes going up= placing 3 notes a...t the same time). The meter is 6/8, so of course, there’s a great #teachingopportunity to learn about the value of the 8th note and the emphasis on beats 1 & 4. All in all, one of my favorites on the Grade 2 list! #suzukimethod #shinichisuzuki #harpteacher #ottawateachers #ottawamusic #canadianteacher #folksong #harpist #classicalmusic #recordingproject #royalconservatoryofmusic #harpmusic #youtube #beginner
