An important message for students!

A great opportunity for students to stay active!

With the announcement of a move to online learning taking place on Friday, May 7, 2021, the PBS staff has been given the gift of time (today and tomorrow) to prepare students and materials for their transition to online learning which begins on Friday! Timetables and information regarding online learning will be emailed to parents and caregivers, as well as reviewed with students before the end of the day tomorrow. Chromebook carts will need to be dismantled to remove cha...rgers, and teachers will also need to record serial numbers assigned to students, and for that reason, Chromebooks and chargers will not be sent home until the end of the day Thursday, May 6. (Students will not be permitted to take them home today.) In the event that a student is not at school Wednesday or Thursday, parents are asked to call the main office to make arrangements to pick up Chromebooks and chargers at the end of the day on Thursday or during the day on Friday. While all of us would rather have our students in the building and are sad to see them go, we know that we will rock the online learning, and that students will continue to shine as they did during our online learning before and after Christmas! A reminder to all PBS students that tomorrow, Wednesday, September 30, is Orange Shirt Day. This day came about in 2013 as a way to honour Residential School survivors and their families, to remember those children who didn't come home and to encourage and support awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of Residential Schools. #everychildmatters

Student Illness Update from NGPS!

We are so excited that LifeTouch is able to continue with back to school pictures with a number of COVID safety parameters in place! A reminder that back to school pictures will be taking place tomorrow, September 17, 2020! Please note that online students, still registered with Northern Gateway Public Schools can contact the main office to schedule a time to come in to have pictures taken!... Looking forward to seeing those big smiles!

An important update from Northern Gateway Public Schools!

A reminder to parents and/or guardians. It is imperative parents and/or guardians review the Government of Alberta screening questionnaire each morning, before sending their children to school. Responses to this questionnaire will assist you in determining whether or not you should be sending your child to school, or whether they must stay home. In the event students are ill and cannot come to school, we will ensure that learning continues for your child. We are here to help!

Hard to believe that we will finally get to welcome our newest group of Percy Baxter students tomorrow! Welcome to our Grade 6 students who will be the first to experience our staggered re-entry! Staff have been working diligently to prepare the school for learning, and while we know things won’t look quite the same, we are looking forward to another great year at Percy Baxter School! A special thank you to an amazing group of parents who provided staff with a special lunch today at the school! This gave us the energy and time to complete the tasks we needed to get done before the first day of classes! Truly appreciated!

EDITED AUGUST 31 - 8:00 PM: PLEASE NOTE THIS INFORMATION HAS BEEN REVISED Parents and guardians can attend their child’s school if they are required to pick u...p a sick child, to sign Instructional Support Plans, to discuss a matter pertaining to your child and so on - provided established protocols are met: not ill, wearing a mask, completing the COVID-19 Information Screening Questionnaire, completing and signing the Visitor Log upon entry, and awaiting for the attending staff member to take you to the designated physically-spaced meeting area. NGPS also recognizes that parents/guardians sometimes wish to meet with school staff regarding their child. In such circumstances, we ask that parents make an appointment with the staff member so that all established protocols can be arranged in advance for the parent/guardian meeting. Percy Baxter School Staff are hard at work where they are participating in Fountas and Pinnell training and learning about re entry to school protocol.

Thank you to the NGPS Board of Trustees for recognizing the importance of providing additional preparation days for NGPS staff! These additional days will allow us to ensure a safe and successful school start up! For this reason our staggered start will be as follows: Grade 6 Only - Wed, Sept 2, 2020... Grade 7 Only - Thr, Sept 3, 2020 Grade 8 Only - Fri, Sept 4, 2020 All students attend on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. #welcomeback #wemissedyou
