Our hearts are heavy with the knowledge that our Indigenous women, girls and gender diverse peoples continue to be the most at-risk population in Canada. The numbers show gender-based violence impacts our people six times more than the non-Indigenous population. Today we honour their spirits. We invite you to feed them, offer protocol, and lift your pipes. Sing, dance and remember them. #MMIWG2S

Reclaiming spaces, our languages and our rightful place in the human family. It inspires us as we continue our work as part of the collective lift for our people. The municipal government is honouring us by naming these sacred places in our great, shared city.
