Meet Marlene! This is Marlene's second year as a tutor with Nomad Tutors. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Honours Biology and two minors in Chemistry and Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University. Marlene is currently attending the Medical Radiation Technology program at Fanshawe College. In the past few years, she has tutored high school students in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and English. Welcome back to another school year, Marlene!

Deborah is excited to be joining the Nomad Tutors team! As a teacher, her last position was in a middle and high school at an IB school in Mexico. She has taught in a university and with the Vancouver School Board. After growing up in Guelph, Deborah did a BA in English at McGill and a TEFLA Certificate in London, England. Then she worked as an ESL teacher in Turkey and Spain. When Deborah returned to Canada, she worked as an ESL teacher in Vancouver and studied a BEd. (Secondary English and ESL) at the University of British Columbia and an MEd. (Curriculum and Instruction: ESL) at Simon Fraser University. Deborah specializes in teaching English and English as a Second Language, and has taught and tutored many subjects including Communication, Social Studies and History. Welcome to Nomad Tutors, Nichelle!Nichelle is going into her fourth and final year at the University of Guelph studying Criminal Justice & Public Policy! She is thrilled to begin her first year as an elementary and secondary English, Humanities, French (K-6) and Mathematics (K-6) tutor! Previously, Nichelle was a camp counsellor to all ages. She felt it was an incredible experience where she was always able to teach and be taught by children and young adults from all backgrounds and experiences. Sheila has been working as an Educational Assistant for 9 years (4 years in Halton Region and 5 Years in Upper Grand). Meet Samantha! Samanthas tutoring experiences began when she was in high school and participated in a peer tutoring program to assist younger students with Science and English. She very much enjoyed the experience of working with students to improve their abilities and confidence, so when she began her Bachelor of Science degree at Dalhousie University, she got involved with the Peer Mentoring program and Residence Life. Samantha recently completed a Master of Science degree at Trent University, where she was also a Teaching Assistant in the Faculty of Environmental Science. She hopes to help students improve their understanding of course material, develop good study skills and support opportunities for learning.

Meet Kayla! In the summer of 2013, Kayla graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) Honors in Human Kinetics. Following her graduation she decided to further her education and moved to Windsor where she is currently in the process of completing, a Master of Human Kinetics (MHK) degree. During her time at the University of Windsor she was employed as a graduate teaching assistant where she ran labs, tutored students, developed quizzes as well as practice questions, and answered all inquiries. It was her time as a graduate teaching assistant where she realized she loves to teach and that it is a profession she wishes to pursue. She understands that not everyone learns in the same way; she was one of those individuals, and so she is passionate about finding what method works best for each person.

Meet: Erin I am the owner of Nomad Tutors. In the winter of 2009, I graduated from the University of Guelph with a BSc. Honors in Biology. That same February, I traveled abroad to Australia to pursue my dream to become a teacher. In the fall of 2009, I graduated with a Graduate Diploma of Education from Southern Cross University in New South Wales, Australia. After returning from Australia, I continued to take my teaching diploma and expertise to other countries. Day #3: Meet Alicia Alicia tutors students at the elementary level as well as grades 7 12 English and History. Additionally, she works with students with special needs and English Language Learners. She has an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in English from Wilfrid Laurier University. Alicia received her Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University specializing in Primary and Junior grades. She is currently working as an Occasional Teacher with the Peel District School Board. Alicia has nearly 4 years of volunteer tutoring and small group experience with various schools in the Wellington Catholic DSB.

Day #2: Meet our tutor, Becka! Becka has been a teacher since she was 14 years old working at camp every summer. She then attended Brock University and graduated with a degree in Drama in Education and a second teachable in history. After that she attended Strathclyde University across the pond in Glasgow Scotland where she learned a lot more than just how to be a teacher. Currently she is an occasional teacher with the Wellington Catholic District School board and a member of the Nomad Tutors team. Becka is a creative person who looks for new and different ways to engage students and bring their interests into their learning.

She specializes in tutoring Intermediate and Senior English and Social Science students. She completed both her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education at Nipissing University in North Bay. In 2012, she embraced the opportunity to complete an international practicum in Kenya.Jennifer works with students with special needs, and has experience in SAT as well as OSSLT preparation. Although we posted this article a few months ago, today the Universities Fair is at Bishop Macdonell and the competition is fierce. For those that missed it the first time, this article is worth the quick read. "While some Canadian universities post minimum entrance grade requirements of about 70 per cent, depending on the program, others require higher marks. But regardless of posted minimums...
