This is a friendly reminder to the community that the social distancing measures ordered by the Provincial Health Office on March 31, 2020, are still in effect.... This applies to all citizens in BC and the City of Dawson Creek must follow and assist in compliance. City bylaw officers across the province have the power to help enforce this order, through education and potentially gathering evidence of a violation. Citizens found in violation may face fines from the Province of BC under the BC Public Health Act. Information on the Order given on March 31, 2020, along with a link to the most up-to-date list of COVID-19 Essential Services (that includes businesses), can be found under the Dawson Creek COVID-19 Resources page on the City website (www.dawsoncreek.ca). Other businesses may remain open as long as they can adhere to the other requirements put forward by the province with regards to social distancing. The City truly appreciates current community efforts during these challenging times to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and your efforts are still required. Until new orders have been provided by the Provincial Health Officer, the City of Dawson Creek is asking citizens to continue to help bend the curve, not the rules.

The Dawson Creek Mirror Reports that Tracy Hunter-Heartt says that the idea came from the Community itself. Hunter-Heartt says she saw a heart attached to the door at the Co-op Home and Agro, and thought the idea visually was a great idea for the community. I spoke with Leslie Fry at Signs and Things in Dawson Creek, and she credits both Natasha Cortes with Vintage and Restoration Love, and Tracy Hunter-Heartt with the ideas for the hearts. Net Proceeds from the sale of the hearts that businesses can display in the windows of their businesses to show they are open will go to the Dawson and area food banks. #DARETODREAMDC - keeps 2020 hopes alive. Organizers behind the Dawson Creek Dare to Dream Festival are still holding out for a 2020 greenlight even if it is ...later in the year. Lead organizer Jeremy Linklater says the board behind the annual family friendly music festival in Kin Bowl was hoping to add more attractions to the 2020 event, which is a free endeavor and is always looking for more support and volunteers. The street sweeping is underway. The schedule of the location of sweeping is attached. Please try and get the front of your lot swept before the sweeper is scheduled. Sure helps keep the roads clean if residents can help us coordinate this winter cleanup.
