NOT YOUR SCENE 27.01.2021

This January marked our third year of operation in this incredible music scene. We had the privilege of celebrating with our close friends and colleagues in Art Signified, as well as some of the most amazing bands and visual artists in town. We couldn't have asked for a better celebration, or a better representation of everything we love about this community. It is with very heavy hearts that we must announce our decision to take a step back and put this beast down for a res...t; due to extraneous circumstances beyond our control, we will no longer be capable of providing the calibre of coverage by which we define ourselves and our publication, Not Your Scene. The website will remain as it is, an archive of our team's work, showcasing our scene as it was from 2013 - 2016. As individual photographers, writers, and artists, we will all continue to provide coverage as much as we're able, going forward. Our good friends at CVLT Nation have generously offered us an avenue in which to continue our work; you'll find much of our photography, video work, and writing now appearing under their prestigious banner. We couldn't imagine a better fit for our work, or a publication that better represents our ideals. Finally, we want to say thank you. Thanks, first and foremost, to our readership - every single one of you made what we do valuable and worthwhile. Secondly, to our team - from the occasional contributor to our perpetual workhorse, Milton Stille, you have all made this thing possible, and held it to the standard that we have taken so much pride in building over the last three years. Next, to our industry partners - venues, promoters, managers, artists, graphic designers, everyone who makes our scene possible through their hard work and dedication in various behind-the-scenes capacities. Thank you for working with us, for giving us photo passes, show spaces, and overall the chance to prove ourselves and establish NYS as a publication. Lastly, to the artists and bands that form the nucleus of the Vancouver music scene - thank you for doing what you do best, and giving our lives purpose these last three years. Your talent, dedication, and passion is what inspired us to get involved and document this special place in time. It has been a privilege and a pleasure working with you all. We have no words to express the gratitude we feel for having played our small part in this exceptional community. In light of this announcement, the anniversary weekend was especially significant; it was a weekend we will remember for the rest of our lives, and this collection of photos will make it that much easier. Check out our final photo set, featuring shots from Ali En, Milton Stille, and Willow Gamberg, from the Art Signified & Not Your Scene Three Year Anniversary. Once again, thank you all.
