One of the most amazing parts about agriculture in Nova Scotia is how diverse our farms are! The Godfrey's of Atlantic Gardens farm three acres of greenhouse and nursey crops. They use 100% biomass energy to heat their greenhouses. They grow a wide range of annuals, perennials and other nursey crops. The Godfrey's love farming because it is a privilege to work with family. You can find them online at: atlanticgardens.ca ... Happy Gardening! #MeetYourFarmer #YourFarmersYourNS

Temporary Foreign Workers are an important part of the work force on farms all across Nova Scotia. Without their support, many farms would not have the skills and labour they need.
Today is Census Day! Have you completed your census? And, did you know that farmers complete another census as well? The Census of Agriculture traces its roots back to 1871, the dawn of Canada's confederation. It will update the number of existing agricultural operations in Canadain 2016, there were 193,650, and in 2011, there were 205,889. The Census of Agriculture provides information on all aspects of the Canadian agriculture industryfrom the township, rural or municipal level to the national level. Both public and private agricultural organizations use the data collected from the Census of Agriculture.
