WHY YOU SHOULD BE SUSPICIOUS OF SUGAR SUBSTITUTES They’re added to beverages, frozen desserts, chewing gum, baked goods, AND in liquid and chewable medications/supplements (particularly children’s formulas). I also see them in a lot of foods marketed as keto. . Food manufacturers create these artificial sweeteners in laboratories. They’re altered, processed, & refined. They’re NOT real food. ... . Sucralose, a popular sugar substitute, was discovered in 1975 by a graduate student at King’s College in London. His head researcher told him to *test* some compounds, but he misunderstood and *tasted* them instead. He was trying to create an insecticide. AN INSECTICIDE! . WOULD YOU EAT A SCIENCE EXPERIMENT? . Of course not! Don’t eat or drink in the science lab! It’s something I learned in my grade 11 chemistry class. . Just because they are created in labs, doesn’t mean artificial sweeteners are superior to sugar. They STILL trigger the release of insulin, a fat-storing hormone. So yep, they can STILL contribute to weight gain. . Sugar substitutes also mess up your beneficial gut bugs, but that’s a topic for another post! . Next time you’re out shopping, be a sugar substitute SLEUTH. Look for these sneaky sweeteners on the ingredient list of your favorite products: . aspartame, saccharin, acesulfame K, sodium cyclamate and sucralose Want my advice? Stick to real, whole-foods like ethically raised meat, farm fresh eggs, wild-caught fish, organic or local vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds. That’s all you need to flourish. These are the foods human beings have been eating for thousands of years, and I promise that they’re safe.

I’m a wellness minimalist. I like to take the easy route to boost my health & vitality. Even the foods I eat every day are simple, like this meal. When your meals are simple and contain only a few ingredients, it’s easier to tell if a food doesn’t sit well with you. ... : When you eat a complicated meal with a million components and spices, how can you *truly* tell what part of it triggered a reaction in you? Always listen to your body. It will tell you. No food sensitivity testing required. Are you a wellness minimalist too? Thank you FarmtoFork for the delicious grass-fed beef & thank you Macrobiotics Canada for the delicious kale. Also thank you Dandelion Foods for making these foods available close to my home #paleo #keto #simplefood #grassfed #ibs #sibo
