Due to the large number of grant requests received throughout the year, Council has passed a resolution to only consider requests at the March meeting each year. If your organization would like to be considered for a grant, please put your request in writing. The request should include the following:... 1. A description of the organization and its purpose. 2. Names of the principal officers. 3. Mailing Address. 4. Intended use of the funds accompanied by current financial statement. 5. Reasons in support of the request. 6. Cemeteries within the municipality will be exempt from these provisions. Deadline for requests is March 5, 2021. Please contact t204-824-2666 if you have any questions.

Oakland Wawanesa Fire Department yearly report: OWFD responded to 36 emergency calls in 2020. The calls were as follows: Structure fire - 5... MVC- 7 MVC with extrication- 2 Grass fire- 10 Hydro emergencies- 3 Fire Alarms- 4 Assist Other Agency- 1 Vehicle/machine fire- 2 Investigation- 2 Hazmat- 0 4 calls of service were in the town of Wawanesa. 31 calls of service were in the rural response area. 1 call for service was a mutual aid call. During the 36 calls, OWFD accumulated a total of 658 man hours. Members earned 1243 training hours this year from monthly vehicle inspections and training. This is much lower then previous years due to COVID-19 protocols. OWFD had 93 volunteer community engagement hours for the year of 2020. Some of these hours include birthday parades, Santa parade and BBQ’s. Thank you for your support in 2020, here’s to 2021!

On Saturday October 17, Oakland-Wawanesa Fire Department held a training day on live fire control. Members worked in teams of 4 to practise and train on fire co...ntrol technique, search and rescue, ventilation and RIT in live fire conditions. In all, 19 members were in attendance for training.
