Combined heat and power systems are an energy efficient technology that generates electricity and heat using alternative power sources, such as natural gas or wood biomass. These systems are reliable in emergency situations and can be used in many types of facilities, including hospitals like Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. We're proposing changes that would remove unnecessary burden for businesses and communities wanting to install one of these systems, and better align the level of approval with the level of environmental impact for comparable energy technologies.
