Very important changes to your emergency travel insurance. We have had an update from the Ontario Ironworkers Benefit Plan’s insurance provider concerning your out-of-province/country emergency travel insurance as follows and effective May 1, 2020. As of May 1, 2020, your travel insurance now excludes any sickness, injury, or medical condition you suffer or contract, or any loss you incur in a specific country, region or area for which the Government of Canada has issued a t...ravel advisory or formal notice, before your departure date, advising travellers to avoid non-essential travel or to avoid all travel to that specific country, region or area. Note that prior to May 1, 2020, this exclusion did not exist in our policy. If the travel advisory or formal notice is issued after your departure date, your coverage under this policy in that specific country, region or area will be limited to a period of 10 days from the date the travel advisory or formal notice was issued, or to a period that is reasonably necessary for you to safely evacuate the country, region or area. This means that because there is a Government of Canada global travel advisory telling residents to avoid non-essential travel outside of Canada until further notice, you do not have coverage for travel outside of Canada. We encourage you to visit https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/advisories regularly for the most up-to-date travel information.

https://youtu.be/7QCYDzsQ_yM Lunch Atop A Skyscraper If you have ever wondered about the story behind the photograph known as Lunch Atop A Skyscraper then you’ll find this video interesting to watch. Even if the scene was set by the photographer, it’s still impressive given the lack of safety lines and the extreme daring that is displayed by these men in a casual manner. The photographer who took the photograph can’t be identified as there were several taking photos that day.

COVID-19 and your emergency travel insurance. We have had a clarification from the benefit plan’s insurance provider concerning your out-of-province emergency travel insurance as follows: 1. Anyone who travelled prior to March 13, 2020 is covered until the end of your trip duration (120 days). If something happens and you cannot get home (e.g. airline cancels flight or border is closed to you), you can get extended coverage by calling Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company of... Canada (RSA) at English: 1-877-832-6025 and French: 1-888-772-9348. 2. Anyone who travels after March 13, 2020 is also covered until the end of your trip duration (120 days). If something happens and you cannot get home, you will NOT get extended coverage. We encourage everyone currently out of the country to monitor the situation closely and visit https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/advisories regularly for the most up-to-date information as this situation is changing rapidly.
