Greetings friends. I am now teaching at the University of Wisconsin, School of Veterinary Medicine. I am coming back to Ottawa frequently to do clinical cases, so don't hesitate to call to book a consult and surgery with me. Thanks for all the support.

Koru from Fiji had his big surgery today. He did great. Thanks to Dr. Bruce and the surgery team at Alta Vista Animal Hospital for help. We will be taking adoption applications for Koru any time. He is the absolute sweetest!

This is a popular before and after picture of Tyson that I have posted on instagram. It really shows the extent of his injury.

This is a case of severe dental abrasion. This kind of tooth damage is often caused when anxious dogs are left in cages and they chew on the bars. This pooch is a rescue dog, so we don't know the specifics, but we are so happy that we were able to treat her today. There were several teeth with pulp necrosis with periapical periodontitis. If your dog is anxious in a cage, find an alternative and consider consultation with a behaviour specialist.

Does your pet have a discoloured tooth? This is highly indicative of a necrotic pulp. When I made my access to this tooth, pus fountained out.... This means that there was pressure inside the tooth, which is almost unbearable pain in people (according to my human dentist friends). These teeth can not be "monitored" or ignored. There are only two options: Root canal treatment or Extraction! Make sure to look carefully in your pets mouth and ask your veterinarian to do a thorough oral examination.
