Today is Personal Support Worker Day! Thank you OWCS PSW's for your care and dedication to clients! PSW Day is held every year on May 19. PSWs are the backbone of the health system and approximately 35% of all PSWs in Ontario work in the home and community sector, delivering a range of vital services that reduce the need for more expensive hospital care, emergency room visits, or long-term care. Today we celebrate Transportation Services! Did you know OWCS completed over 14,000 rides this past year? Through a combination of volunteers and staff drivers OWCS works hard to ensure transportation is not a barrier to attending medical appointments, health promotion activities, onsite programs and obtaining groceries. ... The last six months have demonstrated the flexibility in this program, as drivers flipped to delivering Meals on Wheels, OWCS hamper assembly, hospital to home rides and even answering the phones! #StandUp4CommunitySupport #csm2020
