Clients are always asking me how to get rid of their dogs tear staining. The solution to the problem is simple... 1) Diet 2) Good oral health ... These photos were taken 1 year and 5 months apart. It is a long process and owners often give up when they don't see results right away. In the first photo Melvin had a lot of tartar build up on his teeth and he was eating commercial kibble. After a professional veterinary dental cleaning and 17 months on a fresh raw diet, his eyes have cleared right up. His diet contains only muscle meat, bone and organ. No vegetables, fruit or carbohydrates. -No special products or amount of cleaning will get rid of the problem. -No kibble on the market will give you these results. - Fresh food over processed food. - Regular dental cleaning is as important for dogs as it is for us. Make the switch and see the results for yourself

We'd like to take a moment to address all of our regular clients, those who have been following us for several years... Before the COVID-19 shutdown we were booking on average 10-14 days in advance. We were pretty flexible for appointments, and we tried to be as accommodating as possible. Since returning back from shutdown, we were booking 2 months in advance, and now our wait time is approximately 30 days. This came as a complete surprise to us. We had no time to prepare for... this. Reasons for this include many people purchasing puppies during quarantine, many groomers shutting down permanently, extra time spent cleaning between clients, and clients pre-booking appointments more frequently - out of fear we could close again. We sincerely apologize for this unexpected jump in wait times. We are doing our best to accommodate you all. As a reminder we are a small business with only one groomer, we cannot do what large multi-groomer shops can do. Please please pre-book your grooms with us so you are never put in a situation where your waiting 30+ days to get in. We will try our best to reach out to as many as you as possible to remind you to book. Thank you

We are having some issues with clients not reading the reminder messages we send out. Often times these messages contain new information. Please make sure you read through them before every appointment, so you are aware of any changes to our procedures/protocols. Thank you

Does your dog have anxiety? Do they panic during thunderstorms, fireworks, car rides, vet or grooming visits? Does your dog have separation anxiety? I'd like to introduce you all to this incredible essential oil, designed to calm your pet during stressful situations. I have experienced the results first-hand and I am truly mind blown. I've seen dogs that have full blown panic attacks during car rides or thunderstorms - that are immediately calmed with the use of this oil. Th...ese are dogs that do not have any relief even with the use of CBD oil. This oil is an awesome alternative to pharmaceutical drugs. Please contact me directly and I can put you in touch with my client who sells this product.

24 hour cancellation policy in effect Unfortunately we have been over-whelmed with the amount of no-shows or last minute cancellations, even after reminder messages have been sent and confirmed. Due to this we are now implementing a $25 charge per pet if given less than 24 hours notice for a cancellation, which will be added to the next groom. ... We will work with you during emergency circumstances. Thank you for your cooperation.

Perfect Pooches Dog Grooming 12.06.2020

Important information in regards to booking appointments with us... Since the covid-19 shutdown we have been extremely busy. We do not know if this is temporary or permanent. Currently we are booking 3 weeks in advance. We kindly ask our clients to please pre-book their pets next groom with us in order to avoid wait times. This may be our new normal going forward. Thank you!

Another young veterinarian from another hospital was lost to suicide this week. James did not work at PRVH but was a valued member of the veterinary family. Thi...s problem continues to plague our profession. Please be kind. Think before you share some viral post about how some vet has done some stranger wrong. There are always two sides and sometimes the side you are not hearing is the vet that is hanging on by a thread. We cant defend ourselves. Realize that we are "not in it for the money". Running a practice, having top of the line equipment, paying staff is not cheap. Realize that we are human and may forget to call you back or may not have enough hours in the day to squeeze in one more, while you are here request. James Weaver was a kind, compassionate, open-minded, and all around stand up guy who went to Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Once again, we are left blindsided wondering how the funniest guy in the room could harbor such profound pain. We wear our armor well. If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts and depression, you are not alone. You are loved. And life will get better. Call someone you trust and let them know you need help. You can also call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. Rest In Peace, James. The world and all our furry friends lost a great one today. #NotOneMoreVet #EndTheStigma #portroyalvet

Healthy dog ear vs. A yeasty sore ear. The majority of the time this is due to diet. Be sure to know what your pets are eating. First dog is on a raw diet and ...grain free, natural treats. Second dog is on low quality kibble and treats like dentastix and milkbones. If we ate McDonald's everyday we'd feel like crap too *first dog is mine, Tootsie because she is perfect *

Hey everyone. Has your dog been itchy after their last groom with us? Please let us know in the comments. We have changed our cologne spray, and I am considering going back to the old one as several clients have mentioned their dogs have itchy skin. HOWEVER, if your dog was matted and had to be shaved short that is likely the reason for their itching. Only comment if your pet was not matted. Thank you!

Okay, let me just start by saying this is going to be a long one. If you are a pet owner, please read this. Pet grooming is a career that is highly overlooked. ...We pride ourselves in the work we do. We build relationships with our clients, both human and animal. We care about your pets as much as you do. We praise your pets with all of their accomplishments. We mourn with you at the loss of a furry friend. We put blood, sweat, and tears into this job, every single day. Now, let me begin. This post is not to bash, maim, or hurt anyones feelings. Im not saying all of this to whine about my job. This is simply meant to be educational and eye opening. Quarantine did not help the issues that Im about to address, but these are things groomers see every day. It is incredibly important to be maintaining your dogs at home. We cannot simply brush out the tangles that have been collecting over the last couple months. We cant save their ears or leave the tail long. It doesnt work that way. Youre mad at us, you spit nasty words, because we live by the rule of humanity before vanity. Brushing these tangles out hurts them more. Leaving things such as brush burn and tears in their skin behind as a reminder that grooming is not a thing dogs want to do. Each time a dog comes in and endures this experience it puts a harsh memory into their brain, making it a hard experience every time, instead of a trip to the beauty salon. Consistency is key, both at home and at your groomers. Matting is extremely painful for dogs. Matted hair gets tighter and tighter over time. Thus resulting in pain, loss of blood flow, hematomas, cut off air circulation to the skin, skin infections, hot spots, etc. Remember when you were a child, and you used to put a rubber band around your finger? Your finger turned purple and sometimes became numb. You giggled at what youd just done, but you only left it on there a few minutes. Imagine that all over your body for months and months on end. When you bring your dogs to us in this condition, it hurts our hearts. We cry as we shave the pelt off your dog. We go slowly and rub their nasty, dirty skin as all of the sudden blood rushes back and air hits it. We accept their bites, because we know theyre in pain. We peel back the crust off their eyes and stare at the open wounds that resulted in never wiping away the goop. The skin there always staying wet, a breeding ground for infection. We fight their tugging away, as we shave the pelts that have encircled their incredibly long nails and pads. We remove the hair from their ears in one solid piece, rubbing or placing a compression sock over their head, just waiting for the hematoma to arrive. Were blamed for any razor burn or small nick that has resulted from our struggle to remove the hair. Youre angry with us because the hematomas have consumed the tips of their ears, causing blood to drip. Youre upset with us because they didnt get a longer haircut length. We become angry, as you tell your dog how ugly they look, with their freshly shaved body, all the while knowing how much better they feel. This not only stands for dogs that need haircuts. The same issues can occur with short haired/double coated breeds, when the undercoat isnt brushed out. We love your animals. We care about your animals wellbeing. We, as an industry, need you to understand, we dont just shave them because we are lazy. You have no idea how many times weve heard these snarky remarks under your breath, or to our faces. This job is not simply something we do in our spare time. We are completely invested into each client on our schedule. We are entirely invested: emotionally, physically, mentally. We just want you to understand, we arent the bad guys. **Edited to add, not all photos are mine. I asked my groomer friends to please share their photos as well. We all see these types of things.
