What is Event Design? It's creating the entire look and atmosphere of a particular event. To do this we use mostly visuals like entrance displays, tables decor, lounge areas, backdrops, and more. As well as all the details that make up those things. But there are so many other things that are taken into account by your designer. The purpose of your event, the age range of your guests, the itinerary, the other vendors you have there and... the job that they are doing, the type of food being served to name a few. All the other senses of your guests are thought about too, like the feel of things like linens and seating, or the smell of things like candles. Don't underestimate the job your designer does, they are thinking about a lot more than they let on or talk about with you. On Friday we got to be part of an epic team that basically executed three photo shoots in one day. The concept was one venue three ways and when @okanaganweddingplanner came to us with it I couldn't help but say yes!! Always up for a challenge we took it on and couldn't be happier with the outcome. I mean how could it be anything but amazing when all the people below are a part of the project. This one pushed me creatively, wanting to not only highlight the versatility of ...@summerhillwedding, but also the versatility of our design capabilities. It pushed me in my organizational skills (which I am not a natural with whatsoever), as we had to hop from one design to another within seconds sometimes, so it took a bit for my brain to adjust. And as we are just getting into a bit more floral projects, it pushed us on those skills as well, to see if we could really be versatile in our floral designs. **TEAM HIGHLIGHT** I read somewhere that March was international women’s month? To be honest I didn’t even check it and instead I’m going to just go with it since I missed posting on the day last week. All this to highlight Ashley. There’s no way this business would be where it is, if she wasn’t on our team. Not only does she boldly take on any crazy idea I throw at her, but she’s also not afraid to tell me when my idea is also just not worth it. And I need that in my life. ...She’s our rentals manager and associate designer, she’s my friend, (sorta my kid cause she’s kinda like Ty’s sister? That’s a weird one so maybe ask us about it in person, lol), she loves our kids, our vision, and has a beautiful heart. You made it!! We are about to say goodbye to 2020, but I will not forget what it has taught us. * Don’t be afraid of discomfort. There is so much growth and discovery that comes from being uncomfortable. It’s been something I’ve been learning for years now and have fully embraced this year, but will continue to work on. *Continue to question priorities. My priorities in work and life change from time to time, and taking a moment to slow down and question them is always a go...od thing. *Breathe. Before doing anything just slow down and breathe, literally. Those are the first three that come to mind for me. What else have we learned this year? Also, I’m heading out to the woods to think on all this more, and spend time with the family. We have created a cozy winter space to have a going out experience while still staying within all the guidelines. You get the space all to yourself for 4 hrs giving plenty... of time to watch a couple movies on the projector, play some games, or eat a meal before the movie. The space welcomes you with a few goodies, but we will send over a list of all of our favourite local spots so you can order food for take out, or if available delivery right to the studio.
