7 year old cat with a sudden onset of circling to the right and weakness on the left. Hemi inattention of the left side. Not responding to dexamethasone sodium phosphate overnight. Where do you think the lesion is based on your exam? Take a look at the MRI. No contrast uptake but for right central skull base in red circle. Yellow arrows show edema in right hemisphere and right candidate. Spinal fluid has 300 white cells per microliter and it is a neutrophilic pleocytosis with no eosinophils but phagocytosis of white cells. what do you think is going on and what would you consider for treatment?

Nystagmus means spontanous eye movement. It is only present when moving head and eyes have to catch up. If noted spontaneously then it means vestibular or balance issues. There is a slow and a fast phase. It is labeled based on the fast phase. The lesion is on the slow phase side.... usually. In this patient there is abnormal nystagmus.

Did you know that dogs and cats need chiropractors too? Check this out... On the left, Bernese Mountain dog that was becoming weak and had a diagnosis of disc bulging in her lower back. Surgery was in her future but the CT indicated that the last lumbar vertebra and the coccyx (tail bone) has slipped out of place, closing in the space for the nerve roots. Adjusted under anesthesia at the time of the CT, you can see some release and decompression. More sessions were required with chiropractor to complete the job. Prognosis is good to avoid surgery and get relief Below, a super cute cat that could not walk well on back end and no longer jumping. CT, adjust, CT and voila Les subluxations lombosacrale sont communes chez les chiens et les chats. Un scanner est souvent essentiel pour the diagnostique. Call us for more information!
