For those of you asking where you may purchase "The Fiddler" I would like to direct you to our website, www.pheasantgardens.ca click on Our Shop and then click on Daylilies. Please contact us before making payment as some shipping fees may be waved. We anticipate the plants will be available by the long weekend in May (May 24th).

So this is going to be a strange post, I am chalking it up to "old brain syndrome". Anyway a couple of weeks back a gentleman from the Young St. area of Truro called me regarding some Miscanthus Gigantus and Chinese Ornamental Grasses. Well surprise, surprise I was in the back yard and nothing to write on. I promised him I would call back thinking his number would have come up on my phone. Unfortunately it came up as a private caller. So if you are that guy and are reading this please call me again! Cecil

In this the final segment of the series of Starting Seeds Indoors, I welcome a special guest. Lillian joins me to talk seed viability. We will wrap it up by planting some Onion Seeds. Thank you so much for viewing and sharing these videos.

I found Talking about Seeds took longer than expected so I have broken it down into 2 segments. In this first part I offer a few tips on seed purchase and storage as well as some other tips. This video is just over 6 minutes, I hope you enjoy it.

In this short segment, I want to bring you a couple of points that were raised by a friend of mine after she had watched Part 1. Thank you Sharon for pointing these out to me.

Agree, Peonies are a wonderful plant to have in your perennial beds.

I thought I would share this photo of the grasses in the foreground of the changing Maple Trees in the backyard this evening. While I am not a large fan of the fall, I have to admit some scenes are very sharp looking.

We are ready for visitors tomorrow as we hold our annual Open Gardens this weekend (Sat. and Sun.) Looking forward to seeing the visitors. This morning I took a couple photos of what the gardens looked like so you see we have a bit of color. After cleaning the daylilies this evening I took a couple more shots for comparison. So they should return to life in the morning.

The newest addition to the Garden. We really like it. Anyone interested in a good artist/iron worker, we found David Blacklock (through one of our customers) in Port Elgin, NB and he was fantastic to work with.

Well the daylily blooms are starting to pick up each day. Currently I would say we have between 15 and 20 % of our plants in bloom in the main garden. The seedling beds are very colorful. The perennial gardens are doing very well too so we have plenty of color. We will be holding our Annual Open Gardens this year on August 1st and 2nd from 9:00 to 3:00 each day. We will be offering potted daylilies with prices reduced by 25%, but truly the Open Gardens are all about enjoying your company. This event is completely open to the public, so bring your camera and your friends and come out to enjoy.

We had a little more than 9% of our Registered daylilies bloom this morning, but it was the Seedling bed that excited me. I had 4 new blooms this morning that were really eye catchers. Unfortunately my photos were over exposed so I really hesitate to share them. They will be in bloom again within the next few days and I will take better photos.
