The end goal of providing the best care possible for our beloved patients has never changed. This now includes the challenge of keeping our clients and our team safe by following Covid-19 rules and precautions. Please watch the shared video to understand what challenges this has brought to our routines and protocols and how it's affected the veterinary community as a whole. We love our patients and their families and continue to strive to care for each and everyone to the best of our ability during these unprecented times. https://www.vin.com/doc/?id=9818838&pid=25078

UPDATE: The dog is a small red dog that looks like a red fox Contact Amy with any sightings or if found: 519-377-4356. We've recently had a call from someone who was driving past our clinic on Highway 21 and spotted a thin Lab Mix looking dog run across the road and into the bushes/trail area behind our clinic. Our staff went out to see if they could spot the dog but no luck. If anyone is missing their dog in our area this may help with a general direction of travel.

We wanted to pass along an update on our continued Covid-19 protocols and restrictions. With most of the province entering Phase 3 of re-opening we have made the decision to continue operating with our curbside policy. Clients will continue to be asked to wait in their vehicles or outside while patients are brought into the clinic by a PEVC team member for their appointment. We miss seeing all of our wonderful clients, however we want to ensure we are doing our part in conti...nuing to minimize the spread of COVID-19 while still being able to serve our patients. We ask that you please continue to call ahead for medication and food refills as we will continue with curbside pick-ups. We want to note that while our supplies distributor has improved their ability to stock and ship to us; there are still delays and occasional back-ordered items so please plan ahead for refills. We offer contactless payment with the option to pay with credit card over the phone (Visa or Mastercard) or to use our portable debit/credit terminal outside (note: there is not an option to tap your card on this machine, over the phone payment is the only contactless option we currently have). We will continue operating with the business hours of Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and Saturdays 9am-Noon. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. The PEVC Team See more

Caution to pet owners when buying pet medications online. This video shows what some online companies are doing and how they will mimic veterinary products. These products are not safe or doing what they claim to. We recommend buying the prescription products from your veterinary clinic directly. Don't hesitate to contact your veterinarian if you have any questions or suspicion.

To Our Valued Clients During the upcoming Easter Weekend, April 10th, 11th & 12th, our clinic will be undergoing renovations to have new flooring installed in our main reception area. As a result we will be closed for the weekend, including Saturday, April 11th. We would like to take this time to remind everyone that due to the Covid-19 crisis we are experiencing delayed receipt of food and medication orders from our supplier; until further notice we recommend that you give 7...-10 days to pre-order food and supplies and to request medication refills. We ask that our clients look ahead to plan for food and medication refill requirements and order pick ups, to ensure you are prepared ahead of the Easter weekend closure. If you have any concerns about your pet that Saturday morning, please do not hesitate to contact us so that we can provide advice and refer your pet for care if needed. Dear Clients, We hope you are all well and staying safe. We wanted to provide you with another update regarding our COVID-19 strategies. News and information are changing quickly with this virus and as a result, we are adapting our policies as needed. Our #1 goal is to be able to provide the best care possible for our patients, and in order to do that, we need to be able to keep our team and our clients healthy. ...Continue reading

Port Elgin Veterinary Clinic 06.04.2020

Dear Clients, We have received many calls and emails from concerned pet owners in response to our previous email about our supply of food and medications, and wanted to take this moment to clarify a few points. Most importantly, we have been in touch with our supplier who has reassured us that they have good inventory levels of most products at this time. There is going to be a pause in our ability to order for a few days and this pause is needed to help them clear the vast... backlog that has accumulated due to the recent high demand. Processing and shipping these existing orders to clinics is required to make room for replenishment of inventory that is on its way. We are also taking steps to make sure that pets who need food and medications over the next 1-2 weeks are the priority. We will not be allowing bulk purchases of food or medications at this time. These limitations have been placed in order to make sure there is availability of food and medications for all our patients. We are implementing some additional steps to keep our team, clients and community safe: (1) We ask that everyone who needs food and medication to contact the clinic prior to coming, so we can prepare your order before you get here. We will call you when your order is ready. (2) When you arrive at the clinic, please text or call the clinic from the parking lot (do not enter the building). We are committed to maintaining the recommended social distancing, which means limiting the amount of people in our building at one time. Starting Thursday morning (March 19), only clients accompanied by pets will be allowed in the building. Instead, we will deliver your supplies to your car in the parking lot. (3) We want to remind everyone that our webstore does have the ability to make deliveries to your house. Starting Thursday, March 19, we will be reducing the minimum order requirement for free on-line shipping (4) We will continue to screen our callers for flu-like symptoms and history of travel. If you have any flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, unwell), have been in contact with anyone who has flu-like symptoms, or have traveled outside of Bruce and Grey Counties the past 2 weeks, we ask that you have another family member or friend bring your pet to the clinic if they have an appointment, or to call the clinic to make alternative arrangements. We are limiting the amount of family members who can accompany their pet to 1 family member/pet, except under extenuating circumstances. We understand that these are unusual and stressful times and really appreciate everyone's patience and understanding. We are watching the COVID-19 situation closely and will update you about any additional changes as they occur. It is so important that we all work together to make sure that our furry family have what they need, while keeping everyone safe. In the meantime, take care of yourselves and one another. The PEVC Team.

To our valued clients: Due to high-demand during the COVID-19 pandemic, our supplier is currently out of stock of many of our veterinary products. They are working hard to replenish their supply and setting new strategies to meet this unexpected and unprecedented demand. While we are able to place orders they are unable to guarantee delivery dates at this time. They are asking at this time for us to limit pet owner purchases to those who will run out of food or medications within the next two weeks while they replenish their supply. Should you wish to order items for your pet, please give us as much notice as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we all work through this together.

COVID-19 UPDATE: The health of our PEVC team, clients and community is of utmost importance. As a result, we ask that ANYONE WHO IS SICK (COUGH, FEVER, UNWELL), OR HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH SOMEONE WHO IS SICK, OR HAS TRAVELED TO HIGH RISK AREAS, TO REFRAIN FROM ENTERING THE BUILDING. ... We also request that only essential caretakers attend appointments. Walk in appointments cannot be accommodated, please contact the clinic to make arrangements prior to coming to the clinic. Instead, please call the clinic (519) 389-2020 to make alternate arrangements. We want to make sure our patients have everything they need and together we can make sure this happens in the safest way possible. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns. Thank you, Your PEVC Team

It's that time of year again! With the temperature rising, ticks will be questing. Tick checks should be performed on your dog after every exposure to tick environments. Here is a good visual on a fast tick point check! Contact your veterinarian if you have any tick questions or if you are requiring tick prevention for your pets.

Port Elgin Veterinary Clinic 20.02.2020

The health and safety of our clients, their pets, and our PEVC team members is our top priority. As we all know, the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is occurring in Canada with cases reported across the country. We maintain our commitment in providing a safe, sanitary environment throughout our clinic. Our client washroom remains open in the front waiting area for hand washing and hand sanitizer is available at our front desk. If you have concerns about visiting the clinic p...lease call ahead to discuss options; we can reschedule non-urgent visits or possibly make arrangements for pet drop-off or food and medication refill needs. We ask if you have traveled within the last 14 days or have any symptoms such as a cough, fever, or difficulty breathing, please call to speak with a PEVC team member to reschedule your appointment or discuss alternate arrangements to ensure that your pet receives the care it needs. We know there are many questions and concerns surrounding the virus and outbreak and we have fielded calls wondering about the risk to our pets. Currently there is limited evidence that pets can be infected with the virus, and no evidence that they can be a source of infection to other animals or to humans. As more information or guidelines become available we will continue to update you. Sincerely, Your PEVC team See more
