Our wild spritzers make a return this weekend! This is our take on a classic mojito, made with a lime and river mint simple syrup, topped with soda water and white rum if you desire (can be made without alcohol as well)! Thursday is here, the sun is shining and we open for the weekend today at 4pm! We’re super excited to announce the details of our collab with our friends Toporama Prints! A few months ago we got together with Toporama Prints, local screen printers and graphic designers in neighbouring English Harbour, to come up with a fun design for a super limited run of merchandise (t-shirt, glass & poster) along with a delicious new beer to pair with it! These will all be released THIS FRIDAY (May 21st), exclusively in the taproom and on SUNDAY, May 23rd, in the aft...ernoon Toporama will also be *LIVE* screen printing this artwork on a small selection of tote bags in the taproom! Toporama created a unique piece of artwork for our collab and screen-printed it onto a limited run of t-shirts and posters by hand in nearby English Harbour. They also designed the artwork to wrap around a can and a limited number of our new glasses to hold a special beer we brewed for this release. Glasses will be limited to 2 per customer. Onto the beer! For this one, we combined our love of sours and NEIPAs to brew a juicy Sour NEIPA! This moreish beer has big aromas of mango and peach, and flavours bursting with everything tropical. It is moderately sour with a subtle bitterness and comes in at 5.3%. It'll be released exclusively in the taproom this weekend with other locations TBD afterwards. 2020 has had its many, many downs, but also a fair share of ups as well! From a homebrew competition, lots of new and fun beer releases and making gluten-free beer more accessible, to a global pandemic, learning how to shift our business to online sales and curbside pick-up, closing and reopening our taproom, worldwide collaborations, government tax breaks for NL craft breweries, new staff members, new friends, and opening an entirely new production brewery in Port Rexton - 2...020 is definitely one for the books. It's been a wild ride and we can't say thank-you enough to everyone who supports us. Whether you buy our beer or merchandise, visit our taproom, leave us a review, share a post or refer us to a pal, none of it goes unnoticed or underappreciated. Of course, we wouldn't have been able to succeed in the past year without our incredible team. They've taken all the changes that 2020 has thrown at us and ran with them. Every week seemed to be a new protocol or regulation and with no questions asked, they worked tirelessly to keep PRB true to what we are. We're happy to put 2020 in the rearview, but excited to see what the next year has in store for us and the craft beer industry! Well, we brewed for the 829th time this morning, but this time it was our first test batch on our new 15 BBL brewhouse by Criveller Group at our brand new production facility here in Port Rexton! It's been almost two years of research, planning and building and we couldn't be more excited to be *this* close to brewing all your favorite PRB styles here in our new production space. And do no fret, our taproom and smaller brewhouse that you've all come to know and love, will sta...y the same where you can still visit us year-round. In fact, we have a few small surprises to roll out there as well in the coming weeks. A huge thank you for everyone who has helped us along the way - we never imagined 4.5 years ago that we would be here today! Once we work out the tweaks on our new equipment and we're in full operation, we'll be hosting an open house to welcome everyone who is curious about our "newery" to come visit, take a tour, have a chat and taste a sample. We’re keeping the lights on all winter (pandemic pending, of course). Our November hours of operation will start on Sunday, November 1st and you can visit us on Fridays 4-10p, Saturdays 2-10p, & Sundays 12-4p. We also wanted to touch on our annual Halloween bash with The Halliday Band. Unfortunately, due our reduced indoor capacity and recommendations by health officials, we made the difficult decision to cancel our Halloween party this year. We teamed up with Johnny Ruth in celebration of their 15th anniversary to brew this super easy-drinking amber ale! The Win Hop Amber Ale (5% abv) is light amber in colour with aromas of dark fruit and caramel. Malt flavours of caramel and a hint of chocolate are well balanced with a touch of spicy and herbal hop character that concludes with a refreshing, dry finish. Thanks to Jud Haynes for the amazing artwork for this new brew! This amber ale is the perfect fall beer for enjoying during fresh, cooler evenings after a day on the trails or frolicking in the leaves! At the beginning of the year, we held a PRB Mystery Homebrew Challenge where we chose the ingredients, and the rest was up to the participants. We’re stoked to release the winning beer, a Sour Belgian IPA proudly designed by Ralph Pike (in honour of his friend and mentor, Darryl), and brewed at PRB with his friends! This brew starts tart and finishes with a slight earthy bitterness. Backed by notes of citrus rind and tropical fruit, it packs a real punch with an ABV of 6.7%.
