Words have the power of making people feel included, making them feel welcome, and making them feel SEEN. One thing I have personally been working on is doing away with the terms bride, bridal party, bridesmaids, groom, groomsmen, bridal bouquet, bridal suite, and any of the arcaic terms used in the wedding industry that are gender specific. Humans do not fit in to the heteronormative ways that the wedding industry has created and we as industry leaders ne...ed to be WAY more inclusive, understanding, and open on changing the ways we speak about our couples. Now I know unlearning points in your vocabulary is hard but actively start with a few things like changing your marketing, your website, and referring to your couples as, well, couples! The mornings of the wedding day can be crazy and I always recommend that you take some time before the craziness of the day to just relax and just be. This can be hard with everyone around but taking even just 5 minutes to yourself before getting your dress on is so important. Taking the moment to breathe, take in what today means to you and to remember this moment is so important. There's something so gorgeous about a flat lay. They are even more amazing when we can incorporate things that are important to you. These can be the shoes you are wearing, the something old or borrowed that you are incorporating on your wedding day. a veil that was your grandmother's. Well isn't this the truth?!?! Though this year has taught me that the prized busy badge is not one I want to wear! I am finding more time to just be and relax and how to enjoy my working time. I mean who doesn't love puppy cuddles while watching netflix! As well as learning this I have also learned that my current brand doesn't totally reflect who I am. I am nearing the end of a rebrand and I am very excited to show you what I have been working on. It's taken WAY longer than it should of and @ladyowldesign has been extremely patient with me during this journey. I can't wait to show you all the amazing work and the fun brand that is releasing soon!

Is there a certain picture you think would be fun to have that fits your personality on your wedding day? Then let your photographer know. Whether it is a certain detail of the venue, an heirloom you want to be incorporated or just a picture that you want to have to remember the day, make sure you let them know ahead of time that you want that picture. They can't read minds unfortunately and they don't want you to be disappointed that you missed out. Did you realize that ordering vendor meals are a standard practice? This is something many couples forget about but you need to include the vendors that are working your wedding in your numbers for food. These vendors normally work all day (up to 12 hours) without getting a break and don't have the ability to go and get food because then they need to be at your event. This would include people like planners, photographers, videographers, DJ, band, bartende...rs, venue staff ect. Make sure you check contracts to see if it is a requirement and also ask the vendors that will be there if they want you to order them a meal. Also, make sure you are asking them about dietary restrictions!
