Day 1 of the 3 day spay/neuter clinic with The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society mobile animal wellness services unit is underway! Over the next 3 days, 75 cats will receive their spay/neuter surgeries, which makes a huge impact on local pet overpopulation. We’re so excited to be partnering with the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society in bringing this much-needed service into our community. The unit also serves as a sample of the permanent services we will be offering within our new Animal Care Centre!
Cats in Ontario need your help! Join the The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society in supporting a bill introduced by Davenport MPP Marit Stiles that would put an end to the inhumane practice of declawing cats in Ontario, a procedure that can cause a lifetime of pain for cats. Teddy’s Law would update provincial animal welfare legislation to ban the practice of declawing cats, unless a veterinarian deems it a necessary medical procedure. This past weekend we shared while we have 105 cats currently in our care, they are not ready for adoption due to a few factors...waiting on spay-neuter surgeries is a big one! Oh, and we introduce our resident "bottle babies" who are snatching hearts left, right and center.
Adoption recap from last week! 2 dogs (including the big beautiful boy, Polar, with his new fur-parents here!) 2 cats 1 cockatiel ! ... Thank you to all of our adopters for making the important decision to bring a new member into your family through adoption.
A Sunday heart squeeze while you are enjoying your coffee...this thoughtful young PHS ambassador saves up his piggy bank money every year for our animals in need. Start ‘em young. It’s little humans like this that are going to change the world.
We know how precious your pets are to you & your family. Keeping your fur babies up to date with their tags & licensing means we can help get them home to you quickly & safely. New licensing fees coming December 15th...stay tuned for updates! (Thank you to PHS Alum, Ortiz, and his mom Jennifer for this lovely photo)

Flashback Friday to our amazing community partners, Gibson Building Supplies, P&D Roofing and BP Canada for coming together to help PHS! While fundraising is well underway for our new Animal Care Centre, the reality is that our current building’s roof needed some TLC that we simply could not put off. Gibson’s, P&D Roofing & BP Canada came together to get the work done and covered 100% of the cost, with no bill to PHS.... Thank you for your support and for helping us keep our animals warm & happy in our current building!
We wanted to give a huge shout-out to two of our amazing community partners, Gibson Building Supplies and P&D Roofing, who came together to help PHS! While we are laser focused on getting into our new Animal Care Centre, the reality is that our current building’s roof needed some TLC that we simply couldn’t put off. Kyle from Gibson’s & Pat from P&D Roofing collaborated and generously completed the work 100% in-kind! ... Thank you for your support and for helping us keep our animals happy & warm in our current space!

We always love a visit from Michelle Ferreri & Dan from Peterborough Mitsubishi. Meet our sweet girl Molly (who will be available for adoption SOON) and learn more about our licensing partner, DocuPet.
We had a wonderful week for adoptions including Lily, Autumn Phillips and our senior gal, Lou (pictured on the bottom right with PHS staff).
UPDATE: All appointments are now fully booked! If you did not receive a call back, we sincerely apologize we were not able to get you in on this visit from the mobile clinic. We received an overwhelming response to the mobile unit. There is clearly a demand for accessible, high-volume spay-neuter services in our community. We can’t wait to get into our new Animal Care Centre and be able to offer this & so much more to Peterborough & Kawarthas. ->PHS will be hosting the The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society Mobile Animal Wellness Unit on Weds, Nov. 25th and Thurs, Nov. 26th. The Mobile Unit will be offering their services to CATS ONLY on this visit to Peterborough.
