Walking Meditation: The Guide The last year has forced many of us to slow down and reflect on what we value and how we can be more intentional in our everyday life. Why not start by walking with intention? How? ... 1. if you find that you’re looking down at your feet, try turning your gaze upward. What do you see? 2. it can be easy to tune out the world around us as we move through it. Our minds want us to feel distracted as a way to protect us. But when we allow ourselves to be present to sounds, it expands our perception of the world. 3. slowing down your pace brings attention to the world around you, to take in the details, imperfections and the beauty in our environments. 4. practice taking a deep inhale with every step, and then exhale in the next step. Connect your breath to the rhythm of your feet. Slow your pace as a way to slow your breathing. 5. we have a tendency to slouch. When we practice standing up straight, it elongates our muscles, opens our chest, and cultivates confidence. 6. repeating a mantra while walking mindfully helps keep the mind from wandering. 7. MOST importantly, be present in the world around you. Unless you’re using your phone to listen to a guided meditation, consider leaving it at home to eliminate distractions. If a walking meditation ritual sounds like a great fit for you, find time to walk with intention each day. In preparation for re-opening on Monday ( ), we want to refresh your memory: Classes pre-registration only. 5-day booking window to sign up for classes. Please arrive NO MORE than 15 minutes prior to class start time.... Do not enter the building if you or someone you have been in contact with has any Covid-19 symptoms. If you have traveled we ask that you do not return to practice until you have quarantined for 2 weeks. You will be required to sanitize your hands upon entering the building. Maintain physical distancing between staff and students at all times. Show up ready to practice. There will be no use of studio mats, towels, or props at this time. Arrive with a full water bottle. You will be required to wear a mask until you are on your mat and the class begins. Our room will maintain a minimum of 9 feet of physical distancing from a standing position.
