Sharing this from a fellow Mama’s page. Please strongly consider keeping the candy chutes as a new tradition on Halloween. There is no way Hayden’s wheelchair would’ve made it up each houses front porches. Not only will the chutes help protect you from future illness (even if next year it’s just colds and flus), but the chutes will also make Halloween a holiday enjoyed by all!

So I would like to shout out my awesome Husband who is just a rockstar Dad! This past summer our youngest daughter Norah made some neighbourhood friends (some of which are Hayden’s age). Throughout the summer they would all play on their bikes. Hayden unfortunately doesn’t know how to ride a bike and I really wanted to find a solution for her so that she could in some way partake with the other kids in our cul de sac without us necessarily having to be either pushing her in h...er wheelchair or constantly holding her hand supporting her. I told Shaun that it was breaking my heart that Hayden was missing out on a typical childhood experience, so him being the guy he is wanted to create that solution. Mind you he still needs to wire in a single joystick for Hayden to maneuver as opposed to two and put on anti-tip wheels, but now Hayden will be able to ride around with the other kids without needing us to be right there 100% of the time. Hayden’s action shots (because she refused to stand still ) of her first official day of Grade 1! This is such a monumental milestone for her, and while it may look let’s face it *extremely* different than I initially thought it would, this is still such a big day for her! I hope that she has so much fun and that she will thrive in her new classroom. My Mama heart broke a little watching her leave and I did shed a few tears, but deep down I know that this will be so good for her. Happy first day of grade one my baby girl!
