The Executive and membership of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 33 Bridgetown are saddened to announce the passing of one of our longest serving members, Gerald C. (Snookie) Mack. Snookie also served many years with the Bridgetown Volunteer Fire Dept, and is the recipient of the Fire Services Exemplary Service medal. He received his 50 year Legion Service medal recently, pictured below. Snookie served in the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (RCEME) as a Mechanic, and maintained Centurion main battle tanks during the 1950s. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning; we will remember them. RIP Snookie, stand easy.

Remembrance Day Ceremony 2020 - Branch 33 Bridgetown This year will look very different than previous ceremonies, but will continue with modifications as previously highlighted. Members of our Armed Forces have been ordered to observe Remembrance Day from home, in uniform. You can bet they will. There will be no parades. This year, look to your neighbours and friends to celebrate the wonderful freedom we enjoy here a home. We are reminded almost by the minute this year ...how fragile that freedom is. Wreaths can be purchased from Comrade Heather Misiurka ([email protected] or (250)210-2245). Stuart Lenthall-Ascott is leading the poppy campaign. We would request all wreaths be laid privately prior to 10:45AM. All wreath donors and names of the fallen will be read with solemnity, same as normal except there will not be long pauses between; the time normally required to lay the wreath. In the event you may not get your wreath laid before 10:45AM, the names will be read out regardless during the ceremony, and you may lay your wreath following the ceremony. It is important to understand that all social distancing and health requirements remain in place for the duration of Remembrance. The Lounge will be open following the ceremony; regrettably there will be no reception nor food this year. We thank you for your patience as we do our best to observe this sacred ceremony under extraordinary circumstances. Zoom link is in the comments below for the ceremony; we plan also to stream on FB Live from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 33 (NS) FB page. And as always, thank you to the great folks of Bridgetown and surrounding communities for continuing to support our Veterans and their families, and to the Royal Canadian Legion. Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet, Lest we forget Lest we forget!
