It’s Black History Month and every year in February Canada honours the enormous contributions that black people have made and continue to make in all sectors of society. Did you know that the terminus of the underground railroad is located just a short drive away, just outside Chatham? That’s right! In 1849 Reverend William King, an Irish born minister and Abolitionist (movement to end slavery) moved to the area from the United States and brought with him his father in law’s former slaves. They formed a settlement in North Buxton and their ancestors not only still live there today, but they also operate the museum. At one time, this small town was home to the largest black settlements in Ontario. We encourage you to learn more about the contributions that black people have had in your community and share them with us!

Two awesome local companies are partnering to raise money for the youth in our community who utilize the services at The Hub - Sarnia-Lambton. Have you heard? Sarnia-Lambton Rebound programs are heading back to the comfort of a Rebound Program room! We’ve created a plan to bring these programs in house while keeping everyone safe. This plan includes: Limited numbers of participants and volunteers in each in house session, physical distanced room set up, mandatory masks at all times, thorough daily disinfecting and cleaning. While we’ve heard from many youth that they miss our in person supports (almost as much a...s we miss seeing them in person), we also recognize that virtual supports are still needed and will be provided if preferred. REGISTRATION FOR 3 IN HOUSE PROGRAMS IS NOW OPEN! Programs will begin the week of January 11, 2021.
