Everyday I think about painting, but it’s not everyday I get the opportunity, sometimes I find days slip into weeks but luckily weeks do not slip into months. I couldn’t let it, painting revs me up and relaxes me all at the same time, it allows me to slip away from the everyday. Most mornings, while I get ready for the day I watch tutorials from amazing painters from all over the world. It inspires me, I love to learn and there are always new methods coming to surface. I wo...uld love to start creating Tutorial Tuesdays ....if I ever get the courage!!! The new year is fast approaching and it is on my ‘try’ list. Stepping out from behind the camera horrifies me a little, okay if we are being honest, it horrifies me a lot but I also can’t stop thinking about the what if’s of that. Ummm hello ....paining every Tuesday, YES PLEASE! Today I did have an opportunity to paint and it was for my son Nathan’s room. He has asked me to paint his furniture in Annie Sloan Athenian Black and there’s no way I could say no to that! I have a few pieces to complete, here is project #1. I sanded and removed the varnish from the drawer and the table top. I used 2 coats of General Finishes Water Based Stain in Espresso and 2 coats of General Finishes Water Based Urethane in Flat Matte. I painted the base with 2 coats of Annie Sloan Athenian Black and applied Clear Soft Wax to seal. I then hit up the hardware section at Red Brick Emporium and purchased 2 new knobs to complete the look! What did I get from this? A very happy son and a couple of hours of downtime doing what I love to do!
