Jigger requires an intermediate-experienced rider as she is still considered green, however, she has no dirt under saddle and is not a spooky mare. Jigger can be testy (mostly on the ground) and needs someone who is firm with her (once she knows that you will not let her get away with being pushy, she is AMAZING). Jigger is very supple and soft under saddle and requires soft hands. She is a beautiful mover (she goes both western and English). Rider must be comfortable at walk/trot/lope. We have a large outdoor sand riding ring, a round pen and miles of trails. The lease includes up to 3 rides/visits per week, $150/month. People ask me all the time why my training program includes time with the horse just standing tied. This picture is a good example as to why I do that. I was te...aching lessons out of town for a week and I had this horse that was just a bit of a hard head. He wasn’t trying to buck me off or anything blatantly disobedient...but just wouldn’t settle, was always on edge. I tied him up when I was done riding him and he dug this hole within 20 minutes. It’s hard to tell from the picture, but he dug down a good 2 1/2 feet! He had no patience, no willingness to relax. He spent hours tied up before and after his lesson. It took him days to finally stand and relax. I can not impress enough the importance of teaching horses to stand quietly and calmly. While just tying the horse does not train them, it does help them learn patience and that WILL transfer into the saddle! For those riders/owners in colder climates, take some time this winter and teach your horses to willingly stand tied. Due to covid19 and being in the orange phase, we want to remind you to stay 6ft apart (or 1 horse length, not a pony length ;) ), and at this time, any visitors you bring to the barn are asked to stay out of the barn (they can stay outside, if this rule is broken, you will be asked to leave the property). At the end of your childs’ journey on a lesson horse, they will out grow me. They will find one that jumps higher, a horse that is show quality, a horse much faster than me. But, I will never outgrow being a lesson horse. I will be the one that loved your child and helped your child grow into the rider and person they are. I am a lesson horse. At the end of my time as a lesson horse; I will be covered in grey hair. Each grey hair came from each hour I spent as a lesson horse. I will be in a field of green grass, I will be taken care of as I was when I was a lesson horse. I will watch your child from across the pasture love her new horse. We are SO lucky to have an AMAZING equine dentist in the area!! Was amazing watching him work today at the farm. Equine dentistry is important if you want happy and healthy horses. You wouldn't want to live with a sore tooth, would you?

Hi everyone! Allie here, owner of ROS; I just wanted to take a minute and thank all of our lovely clients for a wonderful first season! As we are now in our ''off season'', I just wanted to remind everyone that we still do offer trails/lessons/pony rides, but things are slowing down as the horses and humans need a bit of a break! Also just wanted to remind everyone that ROS is not Brittany or I's main job, I work a full-time job (along with chores and raising a family) and Brittany runs her business Kent K9 Training, so please be patient with us if we are not as quick to reply or if we have fewer spots available during our off season. Thanks, everyone! :)
