BREAKING: Our injunction application was unsuccessful. As we've said, it's very rare to get an injunction against legislation (and the actions of government), b...ut our community can count on the CCFR to fight every battle regardless if it looks like an easy win or not. #TeamCCFR The burden of proof in injunction applications are considerably higher than in the main application. But this is nowhere near over. In fact, this is only the beginning. This case will likely end up in the Supreme Court of Canada. Stay tuned... #NeverGiveIn

View this email in your browser Hello members, I hope that everyone has stayed safe during these trying times. Covid-19 has definitely impacted everyone's lives and routines. The restrictions have impacted the RWF as well; however, we still manage to keep things running and work to improve things for everyone going forward. Let's hope that we can get back to normal at some point in the near future.... With that being said the RWF will be holding its annual AGM meeting on March 30, 2021 @ 7PM. The AGM meeting is your opportunity to participate and comment on the issues brought forward. We value everyone's input and hope that you will attend the meeting. The meeting will be conducted over Zoom ( details below ) in order to comply with Saskatchewan Health Guidelines unless restrictions ease, but somehow it doesn't look promising. We have several board and chair positions that will be available for people and if you are interested, or know someone that is interested. Please feel free to submit your interest, or any questions to [email protected]. The only requirement is that you are an RWF member in good standing and willing to provide some of your time. We have a number of upcoming projects slated for 2021 and would appreciate some extra help. Keep in mind that with Zoom you don't need a computer. You can just dial in with a phone using one of the numbers below. In which case you will be prompted for the Meeting ID and Passcode to enter the meeting. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the meeting! Take care and stay safe everyone! Zoom meeting details will be made available by email to RWF members. Interesting article from 1973. Earliest documents from Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation becoming involved with protecting firearms ownership that I could find dates back to 1964!

We have received many inquiries regarding the reception of incorrect HAL system information by many hunters across the province. We have brought this matter forward with Government, and will keep our members and followers informed as new information develops.

The MWF was made aware of tragic incident on Remembrance Day. A deer hunter sitting in his blind was struck by a bullet from a poacher shooting at a deer from a... roadway. The hunter was transported by Stars helicopter to hospital and is expected to recover. To date, the suspect has not been caught, MB Conservation and the RCMP continue to investigate. The MWF cannot stress enough that these CRIMINAL acts must be stopped! We must help our enforcement officers and report these CRIMINAL acts to the TIP line (1-800-782-0076) or contact your local RCMP detachment. #poaching #manitobahuntingnews #wildlife #deerhunting #conservation #huntfishmb #manitoba See more

In Saskatchewan it is illegal to sell, barter, trade or buy wild meat and fish whether online or in-person. This is trafficking and can result in fines and lice...nce suspensions. Help keep Saskatchewan’s wildlife population strong. If you see or suspect the illegal sale of wild meat or fish, please report to Saskatchewan’s Turn In Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) line at 1-800-667-7561 or www.saskatchewan.ca/tipp.

Here are all 45,827 occurrences of invasive wild pigs in Saskatchewan that we have accumulated so far up to the end of 2020. I know a lot of people are demandin...g very fine resolution maps. Others want a pig tied to a tree with a bow on it. As I've written about before, there has to be a balance between sharing information and protecting the rights of landowners who have said over and over they don't want to be over run by hunters. Which is very fair. I will be producing different versions of maps and I posted the nearly finished Manitoba map previously. The size of the dots and lack of specific place names is meant to provide useful information without being overly specific. Please keep in mind these animals can move 30 km+ in a day and some of these points are a few years old. Wild pigs are probably the most difficult species to hunt in the province and there are rarely easy solutions. Some hunters get lucky while out on the land for other reasons but rather few put in the work required to find wild pigs using trail cameras and making connections with landowners. As always, we gratefully accept all sightings, trail camera photos, observations of damage for wild pigs anywhere in Canada. This is the only way I can keep updating these maps. For hunters, there are some details on regulations in the most recent hunting guide - though unfortunately the province has done a poor job of explaining all of the details to hunters and many of the regulations remain somewhat unclear. From what I understand using dogs is not legal and trapping requires a permit from the Ministry of Environment. Be sure to check with your local conservation officer if you have any questions. Important Notice: As you know, Big Game Seals have a notch for the year to mark the year they are valid in. One of the earliest run had the highest year notch ...going up to 2020. Almost all the Seals from that range have been used, but there might still be some in circulation. Since some of the Hunting seasons go till 2021, the seals dated up until 2020 are not suitable for use. Therefore, Seal numbers between S000001 thru S0500000 have been withdrawn. Any Seal number between this range that has not already been issued can no longer be used. If you have any Big Game Seals that fall within this range, please destroy those securely. Please DO NOT call Helpdesk to activate them.

Ministry of Environment conservation officers recently solved a mule deer poaching case thanks to calls to the Turn In Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) line. A pub...lic appeal from SaskTip went out in June regarding a poaching incident near Weldon, Saskatchewan. Calls to the TIPP line eventually led to an individual being charged with unlawful possession of wildlife under The Wildlife Act. Devon Lavallee, 33, was convicted and fined $2,100 in Melfort Provincial Court on Aug. 10. Lavallee also received a one-year hunting and trapping suspension. The public’s assistance in solving crimes related to the protection and preservation of our natural resources has been invaluable. SaskTip is a registered charity that was formed to help convict poachers. Every year, the public makes more than 1,400 calls to the Ministry of Environment’s 24-hour TIPP line. If you suspect wildlife, fisheries, forestry or environmental violations, call the TIPP line at 1-800-667-7561 or #5555 from a SaskTel cellphone (phone calls only, no text messages). You can also report online at saskatchewan.ca/tipp. All reports are investigated and calls are confidential. You may be eligible for a cash reward through Sasktip.
