Rev N You with Real Estate 28.01.2021

Earlier this week we released another interview episode on our Podcast with a fellow young investor Russell Mortlock - EXP Realty Kelowna ! https://podcasts.apple.com//getting-in-game-/id1505055635 This episode is what happens when you give a couple of young gun real estate investors a couple of microphones and an hour to chat, as host Doug Meyers - Real Estate Investor sits down with a fellow millennial investor, Russell Mortlock, of Mortlock Group Investments.... It's always fun to share the podcast space with other young and hungry, easy to chat to people in the real estate investing space, and Russell is exactly that. The 26 year old Medicine Hat native was working as a pipe fitter after finishing up a Junior Hockey League career, making a quality income but not falling into the trap of the work hard, play hard lifestyle that many of those around him were partaking in. Instead, he versed himself in financial matters, namely real estate investing, and started saving his way toward his first rental property. Fast forward 3 short years and Russell has established a solid portfolio for his age and, perhaps more importantly, given himself the opportunity to pursue his passions in real estate by moving to Kelowna, BC to begin a new career as a Realtor and real estate investor. Our conversation centres predominantly around what it's like to get in the real estate investing game early and what it's like to be an investor in your 20s, so if you're someone in the same boat (or perhaps the parent of a 20-something young adult who's trying to work things out) this is going to be a great episode to listen to. Topics include: - Russell's real estate investing origin story - A look at Russell's portfolio including strategies used and why he chose them - Why you should start investing in real estate as soon as possible -The advantages of being a young investor -The struggles / challenges of being a young investor - What young investors should do to get started if real estate investing is something they want to pursue Thank you to Russell for coming on the show. Great conversation and we appreciate you sharing your time and energy with our listeners, which is sure to inspire others on a similar path. Want to connect with Russell? Great new show with award winning musician Nick Skalkos! https://podcasts.apple.com//people-propertie/id1505055635 [email protected]... Nick Skalkos www.nickskalkos.com This is a truly unique conversation with an incredibly humble guest. Nick's real estate investing journey started in 2016 when he joined Canadian real estate educational company Keyspire. It was there that he learned how to invest in real estate and create powerful partnerships and ventures. Prior to getting into real estate, Nick was a mainstay in the Canadian music scene playing with bands including The Miniatures, Spirits, and The Mounties. He has also recorded on City and Colour's chart topping album "Little Hell" which garnered platinum record status. Nick is still very much involved in the music game where he now focuses on songwriting and producing with and for other artists. He is currently working on numerous projects spanning across all genres, including the recent completion of a project with Scott McGillivray of his self-titled short album and the theme song to Scott's new HGTV show "Scott's Vacation House Rules". In four short years Nick has amassed 20 doors in Ontario and New Brunswick using strategies like Buy and Hold, Multi-units, house jacking, BRRRR, J.V. and using private lending, but it's not as though he seeks to position his portfolio as a selling feature for becoming an investor - in fact, this conversation takes place around a time when, as Nick says he is feeling "a bit deflated" around real estate, the reason which is shared throughout the show. In this wide-ranging, transparent conversation, Nick and Doug touch on: - Nick's childhood and origin of becoming a musician - How Nick "fell victim" to the HGTV Income Property phenomenon, which led him to real estate investing with his wife - Working with Scott McGillivray and Keyspire, and the power of being surrounded by a network of real estate investors - An open look at Nick's real estate investing portfolio and strategies - The honest truth around "feeling deflated" with real estate investing, and how to roll with that and keep going - Doug Meyers - Real Estate Investor shares the story of how Nick was the tipping point for a major change in his life - What it means to Nick to invest where returns are best - Investing outside of your place of residence - BUILD A GREAT TEAM! A big thank you to Nick for sharing his experiences and stories with us - you're a rock star (literally)! https://podcasts.apple.com//people-propertie/id1505055635
