Part 2 of our fabric series! All about different types of fabrics... 1. Chenille Excellent fabric choice for home usage, primarily heavier use pieces. Similar to velvet, it has a cut pile that aids in abrasion resistance and comfort. 2. Faux suede Typically a polyester multi-weave fabric with a surface abrasion treatment giving it a fuzzy pile to mimic suede. It’s very strong, abrasion resistant and easy to clean.... 3. Velvet Velvet has a dense cut pile, making it luxuriously soft with a sheen. Cleans best when spill or stain is tended to immediately. 4. Tweed These textured woven fabrics hide stains and wear well, and can be used in any upholstery application depending on their double rub rating. Higher double rubs will reduce pilling and fabric pulls. 5. Faux Leather Easy to clean and makes a great choice for high-usage pieces. Clean and condition appropriately to reduce risk of cracking. 6. Canvas A strong, plain weave fabric, ideal for printed designs. It’s slight texture can camouflage any imperfections. When picking the perfect fabric, what should you look for? Check out below! 1. DURABILITY - If you are looking for something that will experience everyday wear and tear, durability is a must have. Many manufacturers make performance treated fabrics meaning they are stain resistant, water repellant or UV resistant. Durable fabrics that we love to use are Alendel 100% polyester and polyester blended fabrics. 2. CARE - Knowing how to care for your fabric is very important. For... each fabric, there are manufacturer instructions to follow for cleaning and care. Some fabrics are good for dry cleaning and some are good for machine washing, and all cushions are lined with zippers for easy removal. Care instructions are detailed to every client, for every project. We’re here to help you pick the perfect fabric for your project. In our last post, we touched on something called a sit test. Let us explain further Sit tests are when the client comes in to test different back and seat cushions for their comfort and feel. This is a fun and informative activity for the client to take part in as this really customizes their furniture to match their style. They allow the client to choose the exact cushion makeup for their couch or chair, from a more relaxed and cozier feel to something more fitted and ...structured. At RFP, we want the client to be part of the process every step of the way. Having sit tests ensures that we are meeting the customer’s goals and needs for the project. We show the client the different foams and down we use, and layer foams and down together to make the ideal cushion. This photo shows the inside makeup of one of our cushions. This cushion is layered, made of 1 super soft foam and 2 memory foam around the top and bottom to make give a super luxe feel!

Read below Our goal is to make the customer experience as fun and painless as possible. * When working on residential work, you can come in with some simple inspiration photos, ideas and basic dimensions and we will take it from there!... * When working on commercial work, we usually work with interior designers who have an exact idea for a space. In both cases, customers can choose from our vast but curated fabric collection, choose the wood or metal they would like to use as well as the finishes, choose the seams and/or tufting need for the project and so much more! We also have clients come in to do sit tests which allow the customer to choose the exact feel and look for their cushions. Our design team uses programs like SolidWorks, Lectra and AutoCAD to build accurate 3-D rendering of the furniture. These designs are then made into drawing packages and sent to the client for approval. Our clients can analyze all measurements and finalize dimensions. Mock-ups are then created so the customer can review a scale version of their piece. Any adjustments can be made to their liking We are transparent and open throughout this whole process, inputting our expertise when needed and taking progress photos along the way to keep the customer in the loop. All projects are looked over by our quality control team to ensure that each piece is crafted to perfection, and then is carefully packaged and delivered.
