Good Afternoon, Runners! Many of you have been asking, so I want to clarify our policy regarding returns and exchanges as we navigate this bizarre post-holiday season. For starters, our stores currently operating as curbside pick-up and purchase destinations are strictly limited to just that. We will not be taking any merchandise back until our stores reopen for regular business, but we would like to reassure you that we will, of course, honour an extended return policy beyon...d such time. Please, feel free to reach out with questions surrounding your specific purchases. On the other hand, our fantastic Customer Service team in Edmonton is working hard to process reimbursements for online purchases. If you've made or received an online purchase that you aren't totally satisfied with that falls within our return policy, please fill out a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) request at the following address: https://ca.shop.runningroom.com/returns/guest/new. It may take a few days to process, but our team will be happy to facilitate the transaction for you. I want to thank you all personally for your understanding as we attempt to keep both you and our valued team members safe under challenging circumstances. Stay safe, and have a great weekend! Happy Friday! Many of you have been reaching out recently for advice on what to wear when winter training. We don't blame you! Without Clinics, Run Clubs, or even in-store visits where we can bounce around ideas, keeping safe while staying fit in a lonely Ottawa winter seems quite the daunting task. Now, with a weekend winter storm warning well on its way, we figured it the perfect time to cover these questions with some handy infographics! Please see the first in this series, covering the range of 0 to -10 C, below. Have a great weekend! #RunningRoom #RunWithRR

Hello everyone. The Shoe Dude is back with a review of the latest Hoka One One shoes. They are the Carbon X and the Rincon. First up is the Carbon X. It has an upper designed to lock the foot in place, and vented to keep the breathability at a high level. The super cussioned tongue makes it an awesome feeling throughout.... The softer foam in the heel makes for a better landing, and the more solid cussion in the forefoot makes for better take off. Of course to be combined with the carbon fibre plate in the base make for better energy return with some good bounce to it as well. It is desined to go head to head with Nike, Asics, and Adidas similar models. Good shoe to look into if you're looking for a good marathon trainer as well. The next one is the Rincon. It is a lighter weight speed workout shoe that is more affordable in comparison to the Clifton. When the Clifton gained weight, it became an everyday trainer and the Rincon became the speed work shoe. The shoe is light, flexible, and soft because of the EVA foam throughout the base of the shoe. The Meta Rocker in the forefoot aids with speeding up the roll off. The upper is pretty simple. It is a narrow fitting upper, just in case though. A real try and see type of fit. As a result, not a lot of stretch with it. Just saying. The tongue is a little shorter, and the laces come up a little higher. As a result, the fit is a bit interesting for some people. Try and see what you think of them. These are just a few of the new and exciting shoe sellections we will have for all of you to try out. I hope to see y'all here to give these a try and see what these new shoes can do for you. That being said, I'll see ya when I see ya eh. Ttyl. Doug. AKA Shoe Dude.

Good Morning, Runners!

Running Room 28.09.2020

Good afternoon everyone! Just wanted to let you know that our winter indoor track training will start Monday January 13th 8PM at the Louis Riel Dome in Blackburn Hamlet (off the Montreal Road exit). As always there will be no coaching charge, only the facility fee which you can pay weekly or purchase a multi access pass to save a few dollars. The workouts will continue through the end of March, the final session March 30th. If you are preparing for the marathon in the spring,... I would suggest that you limit your track to the middle of February because the recovery time after Sunday long runs won't be enough to recover for a hard Monday night session but marathoners are welcome to still come out for the warm up and drills then I can give you a recovery or tempo workout to do instead of the harder intervals then stay for the core session! All are welcome including beginners, we have 3 groups...fast, faster and fastest because anyone who runs is already fast! 8 pm we warm up for 20 minutes around the track and stretch, 8:25 strides then our technique drills followed by intervals. Once the intervals are done, cool down and stretch then a group core session so bring a water bottle, foam roller and yoga mats. If you have lighter weight shoes, bring them for the workout along with shorts and lightweight top. For your first visit, come early as they facility requires a registration form be signed which takes a few minutes and they often have a lineup because of this. We will try and get going as close to 8PM as possible. There are plenty of change rooms as well as showers, we generally finish by 9:30 at the latest and if you don't want to stay for core you don't have to, but because of how important these components are to your training it's there for you regardless. Summer track will begin at Terry Fox Mooney's Bay beginning Friday nights 6pm on June 12 and will go until September 25th. We have to share the indoor track on Mondays but in the summer I rent the entire facility so we have all 8 lanes to help manage the larger groups. Hope to see you out on Monday nights, after over 30 years of coaching I still look forward to being at the track and we are so fortunate in Ottawa to have the only 400m indoor track in the country! Have a terrific week, happy 2020 and don't forget to write down those goals, it's only then that they become real! Phil Marsh

OUTDOOR TRACK TRAINING TERRY FOX WITH COACH PHIL Hey folks, now that the Ottawa race weekend is over, its time to think about using the summer and fall to get faster! Outdoor track begins Friday nights 6:15pm at Terry Fox Athletic Centre at Mooney’s Bay June 7 through the last Friday in September! Train with one of the most experienced running coaches in Canada, Coach Phil Marsh will help you become a faster and more efficient runner and thanks to the folks at NUUN, there wil...l be NUUN for every workout! I would also like to welcome and thank Dr. Yannick Schultz from the Holistic Clinic, who is going to come out every session and provide FREE care and advice for everyone working out during the sessions. This is a huge contribution, and great chance to ask him about any injuries or questions about mechanical issues. Kids under 14 run for free, adults will pay either $9.00/session or $90 for the entire summer which covers the rental fee for the 13 on track and 2 off track sessions at the facility. Please bring cash or you can e-transfer the $90 seasonal fee. We have the entire track facility, an International standard track facility, as well as parking for 300 cars and showers. The workouts will progress over the summer, and all are welcome from beginners through elites. With 8 lanes everyone can train with runners around the same speed and distance without having to worry about any jumpers, throwers or sprinters sharing the track. Please note that Fridays June 14 and August 30th the track is rented for events, but we will still meet for a workout either hill relays or through the park and there will be NO cost those sessions. Each workout will consist of a group warmup, stretching, strides then the Mach drills, followed by the various workouts. After the workout there will be a cool down, barefoot strides in the grass infield then a progressing core class led by Coach Anna Kate Orlando so bring your yoga mats and foam rollers! Hope to see you at the track, it’s a great time and a chance to train with 80-100 runners who all want to get faster, refine their technique, get a stronger core and of course have some fun sharing the pain of interval training! There is plenty of free parking, and if you ride your bike you can park it inside the track fencing so it will be safe and supervised the entire time. Please send me an email if you have any questions, and hope to see you on the 7th! See more
