I LOST 50LBS I decided towards the beginning of quarantine I wanted a new goal to focus on when gyms shut down. I wasn’t going to powerlift anymore and I didn’t want to be fat, so I decided to cut weight. Here are just some notes from my 18 week cut: I weighed 274 in March 16, and now 224 on August 1 (pictures were done yesterday at 226) My diet was broken up into three phases. Phase 1: I just stopped eating like a jerk. I lost 15lbs pretty easily from not eating crap and b...eing so bloated. Phase 2: carb cycling. I implemented high, low, and no carb days, and it allowed me to drop weight but still eat a relatively high amount of food. Phase 3: low carb/fat. The last 4 weeks were tougher. Carbs were <50g of carbs, fats <60g of fat. Weight was slower to come off by this point, and I was feeling slower and more brain dead I tracked absolutely everything, every day. This includes having a handful of baby carrots weighed myself daily still trained as hard as I could, 5 training sessions a week every week (minus one Deload week) Daily, sometimes twice daily walks Kept protein at ~250g the whole time I had a re-feed day every Saturday, which basically meant I had carbs throughout the day and finished the day with a burger Had great training partners. This was incredibly valuable @jesus_take_the_wheel14 @shannon_rae_branton saw me almost every day and helped keep me on track, especially with their previous bodybuilding experience. But others along the way were very encouraging as well Now it’ll be time to have fun, eat pizza and waffles this weekend, but then back on the plan Monday. I’ll be slowly increasing my food and training volume the next several months to get up to ~250lbs without my bodyfat getting out of control, then cutting back down, so on and so forth the next few years. For now, I’m going to stuff my face and enjoy it a little. #bodybuilding #powerlifting #weightloss #diet #cut #rpstrength #abs #notfat #fitness #personaltrainer #movati #health #quarantine #homeworkouts #precisionnutrition #50lbsdown

INTEGRITY MATTERS We are not rep counters. I know I may/will ruffle peoples feathers with this, but I felt something needed to be said. I care way too much about training and my clients to be quiet when I feel like they are being compromised. And please, if this resonates with you, share it, comment, speak loud. If you are a trainer, gym goer, or client, and you give a shit, lets speak up. #personaltraining #againstthegrain #integrity #dowhatsright #humancentric #clientsfirst #gym #quarantine #fitness #bodybuilding #powerlifting #muscle #service #ottawa #canada #peoplefirst #moneysecond #passion @ Ottawa, Ontario

My clients are awesome! What’s a great gift for a Star Wars nerd? A custom Darth Vader lightsaber obviously. #starwars #darthvader #disney #maytheforcebewithyou #darkside #personaltrainer #powerlifting #bodybuilding #fitness #movatiathletic @ Movati Athletic

Just another exercise that makes people give me weird looks. Chest supported cable rows with the Prime ROT8 handles. Using the chest support to increase the stability and output of the exercise, while also allow me to protract and flex my thoracic spine in the stretched position. #powerlifting #bodybuilding #back #rows #rowtogrow #lats #personaltrainer #fitness

Time for a client shoutout! Tracy @cariadlawn and I started working together last April. Like many people starting, or restarting, their fitness journey, she was nervous about setting foot in a big gym. In the time that we have worked together, she has seen improvements in strength/performance (being able to deadlift 125lbs+, do lunges, etc), lost over 20lbs and counting, reduced and eventually eliminated the need for heart medication, and vastly increased her confidence insi...de and outside of the gym. Here are her words: I've been training with Ryan for 9 months and have seen amazing results in that time. I have never felt stronger or healthier. Ryan is passionate about fitness and it shows through his knowledge he brings to every session. His easy going, friendly personality creates a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere (even when I'm being cranky). He makes each workout challenging, creative and most importantly, I actually look forward to working out! He also places a high value on correct form with each exercise. He motivates me to push past my perceived limits to get results. I never feel like it's a "Once Size Fits All" approach that he brings to my workout. He listens to my goals and sets me on the path to succeed. He even gives me 'homework'! I have more energy, my balance and strength have improved immensely and I've even got a few great new muscles! If you are serious about changing your life for the better, Ryan will lead you every step of the way. Thank you Ryan, I wouldn't be able to do this without you! My goal is to help people through their fitness journey. From Goodlife and now to Movati, I will continue to work with my clients to help them achieve their goals and then some! @nicolemtaylor_ #personaltrainer #powerlifting #bodybuilding #fitness #weightlosstransformation #health @ Movati Athletic

So the end of 2018, beginning of 2019 has brought about some huge life changes. Got married, started a new job, we’re going to be moving. I’m excited for new challenges and a fresh start, trying to continue to grow now with a new company. So far I’ve heard nothing but good things about Movati, so I’m really excited, but new starts also come with goodbyes. It’s taken me awhile to think of something to say about my time at Goodlife. While I’m not important enough to have what I... say matter all that much, my experience there is worth it. While my finish at Goodlife didn’t go as planned (to say the least), I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve been granted, and even more grateful for the wonderful people I’ve met. Queensview is always going to have a place in my heart. I was able to learn a lot about training, sales, professionalism, teaching, managing, etc. But more so than anything, Queensview really was home, and the people there are family. I love my clients, but I really want to say thank you to the staff, past and present, that I was able to share time with. You guys will mean more to me than you’ll ever know, and your impact on helping my grow as a man and as a professional is immeasurable. I love all of you guys, and I am saddened to not see your faces every day, but I will be there to deadlift on Saturdays and make a little noise. @nicolemtaylor_ @trevor_nova_ @kailamct @wholetherapyottawa @wholetherapyjamie @webs0051 @officialbryank @meana.albersworth @alissacormier_ @srae93 @ottfitseminars @keegzz.d @herculady_ @b_gard1988 and anyone I may have missed; I love you guys, you guys are family, thank you for everything. #powerlifting #bodybuilding #personaltrainer #fitness #newthings #family #love See more
