A New Year with new challenges a plenty!! As we do our best to recover from covid here at the mission, a new cyclone has sprung on the stage. We have been watching Eloise for a few days but it has been hard to tell where it will make land-fall. As you can see from the picture this is a massive storm and although difficult to predict winds exactly, we know this will drop a lot of water on already saturated fields and villages. We are mobilized to do survey flights and Mathias... and the Mercy Air Helicopter will move to the mission from Beira where he has been coordinating with INGC (Mozambique National disaster relief organization). Please keep us all in your prayers and all those who will no doubt be impacted. Pray for wisdom by all those readying to respond and if you feel to donate toward disaster relief efforts please just send in a donation via etransfer to [email protected] and list what it is for. Remember to send an email afterward givng Patti your address details and name for a reciept. You can also give on Canada Helps to the Moz general fund and list Cyclone relief under the memo line. Whatever you do, please just pray! See more

Sorry for the lack of communication since 2021 started! 11 days ago I (Dwight) came down with what I thought was a normal case of malaria. Treat quickly, two days in bed with fever at most and then back to work with energy that slowly returns. Oh, and lots of prayer! But not this time! Fevers got worse and would not quit. Finally after 6 days Lynn took me into a clinic to repeat the malaria test and to do a Covid test. You guessed it, Covid it was! By now my chest was showin...g signs of tightening and numerous other unpleasant symptoms. We communicated with our board and many in NA joined the many out here who were already praying and supporting! Our sincere condolences to all who have lost love ones to this terrible virus which includes numerous friends. One who passed as recently as this week. Thankfully my dear wife only got milder symptoms, as did Shannon Weiss our missionary partner. Thankfully no one else at the mission has been affected other than taking time off to quarantine if they had contact with us. So thank you everyone for your prayers and for your generous end of the year donations! You are all amazing! See more

We are thankful that the tropical depression/cyclone passed over our mission without incurring damage. Reports are coming in from a few other areas that suffered higher winds and rainfall resulting in crop and infrastructure damage. Thank you for your continued prayers for Mozambique.

The tropical depression (Chalane) is directly over us right now. The rain is wonderful, little wind to speak of. Beira had more wind as they got the brunt of it but even so, first reports are that it didn’t hit as hard as expected. Substantial rainfall was predicted over a large area spanning mozambique and two neighboring countries, so time will tell what damage floods may bring. We will post updates as we learn news. Thanks for your prayers!

S.A.M. Ministries Inc. 28.11.2020

As many of you may know, Mozambique is facing the now fairly certain landfall of cyclone Chalane. This is now expected in the early hours of tomorrow morning and although the cyclone's winds are predicted to be less than 2/3 that of cyclone Idai, they can still do damage. The heavy rainfall and potential flooding, as with Idai, is the danger, so we are encouraging everyone we know to leave low lying areas. The cyclone is likely to make landfall right over the city of Beira ag...ain and take a similar path to that of Idai. We are in contact with government officials and other organizations and preparing for survey flights as soon as the storm passes to assess help needed. Mercy Air is planning to fly up to assist with their aircraft as well. Please pray for the storm to make landfall on less populated areas and for all those who will be affected. We still serve God who said, "Peace be still" to the storm and it calmed, so we can pray the storm looses strength as well. We request prayers for wisdom for our team as well as all those involved or impacted. Thank you! See more

Had our annual Christmas party for our orphan kids and their grannies. I loved seeing their excitement when they opened their gifts and found shoes!
