With our mischievous mascot Archie back on door duty with this new lockdown, we thought we would send out a few "paw-patrol" protocol reminders. 1. All adoptions will be by appointment only. Adoptable animals can be seen at www.sarniahumanesociety.com. We encourage you to check daily as Archie lets anyone with 4 legs in the door! Potential adopters must fill out our online application and submit to [email protected]. Once received, one of our Adoption team members will b...e in touch with you - please do not call the SDHS to inquire about the status of your application. We are working with limited staff and the animals care comes first, they will call you. All surrenders must be done by appointment only. If you find a stray animal, please call the shelter to let us know you are on your way. We can then take all relevant information before your arrival to assist with the social distancing protocol guidelines. This absolute doll is sooooo much fun on this dreary, frosty days. She loves playing ball as much as she loves getting her belly rubbed. Riley is a 6 year old spayed female. She does get along with certain dogs but she is not a fan of cats. She is great with children. She is one strong dog tho, so whomever adopts, needs big muscles. Hello, it's me Archie. Today I have an important message for all the little kitties out there. CRIME DOES NOT ALWAYS PAY. It usually does, but not always. Take this day last week - there I was casually stealing toys from the poor cats in cages ( I know, I have no shame), when my claw became entangled and WOULD NOT come loose. I had to yell at my servant Becky to come and rescue me. It was humiliating. She actually laughed at me! AND took a picture! (her day will come). Next time I'll be successful, Becky. #catcrime #shelterlife #Archie

And the winner of Sarnia’s Next Top Model is... Reeces This sweet girl has stolen our hearts and became such a lovebug. She was brought in for hiding all the time so she needs love, patience and a little time to shine. She is a younger girl, already spayed, and would be good with an older quiet kitty. Children and dogs might be a little much for her timidness.

Meet Diesel (9yrs) and Remi (8.5 yrs) This very friendly bonded pair have been waiting patiently for over a month for a home. Diesel and Remi have been together for over 8 years and are the best of friends, they take care of each other. Remi helps Diesel navigate her surroundings as he is blind and Diesel helps Remi to not be afraid when she meets new people. They love their walks together with our fantastic volunteer dog walkers and both walk beautifully on leash.... They would prefer a quieter home without small children and a home that would allow them to enjoy their golden years. We are blown away at all the donations that our friends at PetValu Lambton Mall accepted for us in the month of October. Instead of customers paying for their bathing facilities, they donated an item to us. We received so much food and supplies,that Thank You is not enough. We absolutely love our community and support that we receive each and every day, we are always in awe!

Thank you Prout's Building Centre in Forest for sponsoring this fun loving boy on his trek from the North! "Coyote" is a bouncy boy who LOVES to have FUN! According to "great northern legend" this boy can jump over 9ft without even trying. An agility master in the making perhaps? Our "pawsome" transport team is heading home with Coyote and all his furry friends. Applications will not be accepted until their Medical Quarantine has been completed. Until then, our great she...lter team and volunteers will be spending time with all the dogs, getting to know them and ensuring they get loads of exercise in our play yards.
