We put in some hard miles trail cutting this week. The ponies the dogs and all of us are whipped but had had a productive couple weeks. Fall is closing in and the mornings on the Mountain are nice and crisp. This mule was probably the best investment when it comes to locating horses in the territory. He’s the protector of the herd, so he’s always ready to investigate! Not too mention his sassy attitude, he thinks he’s 10 feet tall and bullet proof.

By far the best water proofing for hunting or hiking boots. Great weather and the perfect time of year to get it done before hunting season. Let them sit out in the sun and get nice and hot before application and then leave them out for a while for it to soak in. Alternatively you can do it in your oven but it will probably piss your wife off. . If you use the oven keep it on warm and put tinfoil down. A mule deer buck I found recently that had been killed by wolves. Whatever a pack of wolves sets their sights on they can bring down. It is not the sick and the weak, it’s anything they want at any time. It’s become fashionable lately to pick on the cougars because they are easy targets, but this is where we need to be putting our focus. A successful day in the mountains! A pack of 6 wolves can clean up a full grown elk in 1 meal. Contrary to popular belief they do not just prey on the sick and weak. A wolf like this can and will take down anything they come across. Taking this Alpha male will have a significant impact on how his pack hunts and their success. For me it is 100% about the dogs,the time with the dogs and watching the dogs work. If I couldn’t hunt big game with dogs, I would hunt water fowl, build a dog sled team or hunt small game. Just finished stage 1 of the kennel refurb. Some of the chain-link was getting a little shoddy, So new panels and gates, cut down all the gravel and replaced it with new and put some tin I had on the sides of the kennel to stop some of the young dogs from scratching up the wood.
