On the eve of Remembrance Day, we wanted to share with you a short story of Larry Taylor. Larry's son, Lee, recently shared a photo of his Dad (Larry) at the a...ge of 96 having harvested a 2020 buck here in B.C. So inspired by what we saw, we had to reach out to Lee Taylor to ask for more - and are we glad we did! Larry Taylor, born in Hope, B.C. in 1924, Larry worked all over western B.C. as a logger, miner and road construction worker. Larry served in Sicily, Italy and Holland during World War II with the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. He met his wife Katherine in England in 1942, and brought her home to Canada to raise a beautiful family and 3 children. Katherine passed away in 2008. In 1960, Larry moved his family to Cranbrook, B.C. where he still resides. He taught his 3 children to hunt at an early age and his daughter Lynn, now age 65, still regularly hunts and takes him out. "She (Lynn) is the gutter and dragger of game," describes son, Lee Taylor. (We LOVE this description Lynn!) Lee describes his dad as having lost much of his leg strength so is limited to road hunting only, but he can spot and shoot straight even with 96 years old eyes that need injections every year to function. With a strong family history of hunting, Lee says his family has even been involved in some guiding in the early 80's. We send a huge congratulations to Larry for harvesting a buck in 2020, having been successful in the last 3 out of 4 hunting seasons! Larry, from all of us a BC Interior SCI, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE #huntersforbc #scicanada #firstforhunters #remembranceday2020 #remembranceday #remember

From our friends @noaahregistry "The Network of Anglers & Hunters is designed to create mentoring experiences for those willing to learn. Our database filters through your location along with your fields of interest to create the best possible match. What does it mean to be a Mentor at The NOAAH Registry?... All mentors must submit a criminal records check, including a vulnerability check, and a child abuse registry. Links and a volunteer letter will be provided to submit with your applications. All mentors must complete the online registration application. All mentors must have the time and resources to commit to a nurturing mentor relationship. It is expected mentors will provide opportunity more than once throughout a season and at least once in the offseason. All mentors must lead by example to nurture ethical, law-abiding hunters, anglers and trappers. All mentors must have proof of required courses, and ensure all tags and licenses are acquired. All mentors must have a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of their area of mentorship, laws, seasons, species, bag limits, and equipment. Our Mentors volunteer their time and resources to help you learn in your fields of interest. (Harvesting, access to sites are not a guarantee.) The NOAAH Registry is open to all Canadian residents Join here: noaahregistry.com [email protected] : @shotsby_ptay #noaahregistry #noaahmentor #mentor #mentorship #mentoringmatters #huntingmentor #fishingmentor #learntohunt #learntofish #huntcanada #becomeamentor #leadbyexample #neverstoplearning #huntandharvest #fishing #flyfishing #learntocast
