Kickboxing closer to the Olympics! . With great excitement the world of WAKO Kickboxing received the news that our sport will be part of the European Olympic Ga...mes in 2023 in Poland. . This is amazing for the National Federations of WAKO Europe as their athletes will get a chance to participate in an IOC organized multi-sport event! . For all other countries this is also amazing news as this IOC event puts WAKO Kickboxing closer to its ultimate goal of being included in the OLYMPIC GAMES. . The European Olympic Games is a huge step forward for our sport. . WAKO Canada continues to work on establishing our sport in Canada. Our are expecting another government recognized PSO in the NWT in January 2021 through the hard work of John Stanley in Yellowknife. . Our provincial associations in BC, Alberta and Quebec are also moving forward on their projects to apply for provincial recognition. . Hi Everyone! I just want to thank everyone for sticking with us through these interesting times. Once we have some certainty about what restrictions will look for the next little while we will update with our strategy for getting you resources to keep growing and working while out of the gym. Stay tuned!
Hi Scrappers! In-person classes will be suspended until November 27th. We'll update again with content to ensure you have something to work on while at home. Thanks to all for sticking with us through these tough times. Until we resume classes, stay safe, stay active, and be kind to another!
Hi Scrappers! Just a heads up that we may need to put our program on hold. Will update with more info soon.
Hi Scrappers! After further clarification from the latest guidelines, our sessions can proceed as they fall within the acceptable activities listed. Training will be 100 percent individual practice and intensity will be dialed down further. Additionally, drop-ins or trials classes will no longer be accepted until restrictions have been lifted. All participants should still follow the same safety protocols, including: -Staying home when sick or experiencing symptoms.... -Wearing of masks at all times except when practicing in your designated area. -Maintaining 2 meter separation from other participants before, during and after class. -Proceeding directly to a station upon entry and keeping movement limited to the designated area. -Arriving dressed and ready to practice as there are no changerooms or washrooms at this time. -Cleaning and sanitizing of participant-owned equipment before and after each class. -Use of sanitizer before and after practice.
Hi Scrappers! Unfortunately group fitness programs have been suspended for two weeks. Classes will resume after the suspension has been lifted, but we will put out more information before this weekend to ensure you can all have some resources to work on until the suspension is lifted.
Heads up! No literally, heads up! We're working on defense this weekend!

5 Reasons to try kickboxing 1. Fitness! Nothing gets you moving like kickboxing. It’s a full body workout that blends cardio, strength-training and functional movements into a fun experience where you even forget you’re exercising. One of the best parts of kickboxing is that the movements can be low-impact, or intense and hard-hitting. You choose what is right for your level!... 2. Stress relief Stressed from work? Home-schooling a bunch of little monsters? School? Hitting the bag with skill provides an outlet for all that tension and negative energy. 3. Develops mobility and coordination Proper training not only focuses on building a sweat, but it also builds your flexibility, balance, and coordination which you’ll notice when doing other sports or everyday tasks. 4. More energy! It sounds crazy right? The last thing you’d expect after a good kickboxing session is more energy, but after blasting away the stress and getting the blood flowing, you’ll feel refreshed and energized for the rest of the day. 5. IT'S FUN! Learning new movements, hitting the bag and getting a good workout is great way to do something different with a bunch of other like-minded people. Join us at Scrapper Kickboxing. All skill and fitness levels are welcome at our club where we follow all health and safety protocols to ensure a safe and welcoming environment. We train on Saturdays and Sundays where you’ll learn fundamental techniques and have a great time doing it. Message us here, email at [email protected], or phone 780-239-2951 for registration.
Summer holidays are officially over and it's time to get back to the hustle! Our Fall/Winter sessions start this Saturday. Details for our reopening are as follows: Kickboxing Fundamentals: Saturday: 12PM-1PM Sunday: 11AM-12PM... Registration is mandatory. Please message us here, email [email protected], or phone 780-239-2951. Gloves and handwraps mandatory. Shin pads will be mandatory for partnered drills. We have a small selection of gloves for loaner use which will be sanitized before and after each class. Contact us if you will need to order any equipment. We'll be following all COVID-19 safety protocol as set out by Spirit TKD which can be found at http://www.edmontontaekwondo.ca//Spirit-Relaunch-Protocol.. Participants must pre-register and will line up outside the gym and maintain 2 meters of social distancing. Participants must confirm that they are not feeling ill or exhibiting symptoms of illness and must use sanitizer before entering the gym. All personal equipment must be cleaned and sanitized before and after each session (as it always should). Participants will be assigned a designated area to train in. Participants will train in their designated areas only. Participants from the same household may engage in partnered drills only with each other. Solo participants will use sanitized gym equipment. The remainder of the details can be found at the link above. The Fit-to_train questionnaire can also be found at the same website and should be completed before each session. Please do not come to the gym if you feel ill. I'd like to stress that this is only our reopening strategy. When safe to do so, our next phase of training will include more partnered drills and structured sparring as we prepare for any potential competitive opportunities in 2021 and beyond. Club fees for our fall session which runs to the end of 2020 will be set at $60 a month, cash or etransfer.
