Happy Friday!!! We hope you guys had a wonderful week and are ready for the weekend!!! To kick the weekend off we decided to show off this wonderful patient of ours!! Check him out!!! Name: Chance... Birthday/Age: October 25, he’s 3! Favourite toy: His frisbee! If you could buy him anything In the world, what would it be?: Probably a real agility course. He’s really fast and so smart. One great story about Chance: When Chance was around 6-7 months old I decided it was time to get him out In the woods behind the house, he’s always been such a good boy off leash I wanted to test him where there’s a lot of different distractions and smells. He’d run ahead but never to far out of sight and look back to make sure I was still coming. I decided after he’d done that a few times to tuck behind the trees out of sight to see what he’d do. And it was exactly what I hoped. He came just charging back to where he’d seen me last worried as can be and then the search for me was on. And he was so happy when he found me. He’s pretty good at hide and seek, haven’t been able to hide well enough yet!! LOL!! Let's show Chance some love!!! <3 <3

Happy Wednesday! It’s time to introduce our next Pet of the Week! Name: Stella... Birthday/Age: January 31, 2012. She's 8 1/2 years old Favourite Toy: Orange hockey ball Favourite place to sleep: Stella loves to sleep on her Dad’s clothes. If you can’t find her on her bed, you don’t have to search far to find her in the laundry room nuzzled on her Dad’s shirts. Since Dad sometimes (ok most times) misses the laundry basket. If we could buy her anything in the world it would be: An endless amount of time with us here on earth. She’s still a pup at heart One great story about your pet: Stella’s been that one of a kind dog since we brought her home all the way from NY. She’s named after the dog Stella, on the TV show Modern Family. What Stella lacks in stature she makes up in personality. She demands attention and won’t stop until she gets it. She loves everyone she meets with a bark bigger than her bite! Stella marches to the beat of her own drum. We joke that she has never listened a day in her life. She’s an escape artist and a bull in a china shop. We just love her and all of her crazy characteristics! What a cutie! Can we all show some love to Stella??

Happy Wednesday Everyone! It’s time for you all to meet our next Pets of the Week! Name: Pearl & Addie Age: 5 & 4... Favourite toy: Pearl likes her toy mice and Addie will play with just about anything! Good Morning Everyone! Our next Pet of the Week is one of our very special memorial posts, in memory of the wonderful Sam, who isn't here with us anymore. He was one special boy though, and we are honoured to take the opportunity to share him with all of you How long have they been with you?: We had Sam for 14 years and 2 weeks!... How did you acquire him?: We got him from a purebred Shih Tzu breeder outside of St. Stephen, her name was Mary, and Sam picked me! There were 11 pups and there was actually another pup who caught my eye but Sam was the one who kept coming to me first! Where did he get his name?: We discussed several names but had to find one that hadn’t been used and Sam just seemed to suit him. What was a funny quirk that made him extra special?: He did lots of cute things, but one thing he did was every evening at about the same time, he would sit at my feet and stare at me and whine then start walking toward the bedroom....then he would come back and do it over and over until I went to bed, and once he was asleep I’d sneak back out lol! What is a favourite memory of him that you’ll always carry with you?: I'm a beach comber/beach glass picker and from the time Sam was able to go, he lived on the beaches with me! Those little legs sure put on many many miles! And he also drove with us to Florida 6 times for the winters and everyone loved him! Feel free to add anything that you’d like to say about/to him as a final tribute: Another memory is Frank holding him with a treat every night after supper and getting kisses and bouncing on his chest so excited! That little guy was my best friend and I never knew I could love him so much and miss him even more. He was the best dog ever!!!! He sound's like he was an amazing companion, and he was so lucky to have such loving owners too Can we all show some love to the memory of Sam?

Hey Friends, Family and Fur-babies! It's time to introduce our next Pets of the Week! Name: Henry (first 2 pictures) & Leo (last 2 pictures) Birthday: August 19th, 2010... Favourite toy: Wet hair, they love playing with it when you get out of the shower. Favourite place to sleep: On you, they always have to be touching you. If you could buy them anything in the world, what would it be? I would buy them a big outdoor play place. One great story about my pets: Leo would always run and hide from my dad when we locked them up for the night because he was always on us during the night and it would take my dad hours sometimes to find him. For Henry he used to jump into our baths with us because he loves water and we used to have water guns and he would always chase them. What a cute pair! Can we all show some love to Henry and Leo?!

Hey Everyone! We hope you're all having a wonderful week so far! It's time for us to introduce our next Pets of the Week! Name: Cowey (grey and white cow cat), Grant (tabby cat), and Otto (Australian shepherd & poodle) Birthday/Age: Cowey is 10, Grant is 6, and Otto is 3 months... Favourite toy: Cowey loves rattley mice and crinkly balls, Grant loves "Da Bird" and other toys on a wand, Otto looooves his stuffed lamb chop and a little plastic squeaky hotdog. Favourite place to sleep: Cowey and Grant love to sleep in bed with us. Cowey always stays in the nook of my arm, and Grant will start there but migrate to our feet. They like bed at all hours of the day! Otto curls up in the corner of our sectional couch or right on our feet. If you could buy them anything in the world, what would it be?: I'd build Cowey a catio to make sure she's safe outside, Grant would get an unlimited supply of Temptations treats and for Otto ... probably obedience classes :) hahaha One great story about your pets: I've had Cowey since she was 8 weeks old and she instantly attached herself to me as her mom. I love that Cowey always wants to be by my side and follows me around like a puppy - she even comes when you call her name, and always chats back and forth with you as she is the loudest cat I've ever heard. In the first apartment that Grant lived in with my partner, he somehow managed to learn to open the fridge door. We were sitting in the living room one night when he came trotting out of the kitchen with a packet of candied salmon in his mouth! I once woke up in the middle of the night to see a glow coming from the kitchen doorway - the fridge was wide open. We had to barricade the door with a chair after that! Otto is still so new to our family and we're getting to know one another. So far I love how much he loves kiddie pools. His first time in, when the water is chilly and fresh, is a bit startling, but it's not long before he is making the biggest splashes he can. He's so fluffy and it's been a blessing during this warm summer. I love to see how his fur billows in the water like a mermaid, too! What a sweet looking crew, and such great stories about them! Can we show some love for Cowey, Grant, and Otto?

Happy Wednesday Everyone! We hope you're all enjoying your week so far! It's time for you to all meet our next Pets of the Week! Name: Maci & American Gallant (his birth name is Papi but somehow the nickname American has stuck to the point where he doesn't even recognize his real name)... Birthday/Age: Maci - 6, American - 9 Favourite toy: Maci loves her marrow bones from Global. She usually has 3 or 4 around the house. We might not know where they are at all all times but she sure does! And if you are an extra special visitor she will be sure to greet you with one in her mouth when you come. American doesn't "do" toys...he is a grumpy old man! Favourite place to sleep: on their humans. If there is a pillow near by, Maci's head will most definitely find it. If you could buy him/her anything in the world, what would it be?: Food is how we show love in our house! Maci would get an unlimited supply of carrots and peanut butter while American would have Tiki Cat Tuna all day long if he could! One great story about your pet: The cat essentially puts up with the dog who came barreling into his peaceful life 6 years ago. They typically hang out in different rooms with each of their "chosen" humans and when they do get close in proximity, American does not have much patience for Maci. She knows this yet will chance his attitude time and time again at the small hope of getting licked/groomed if only for a moment. He usually gives in to her annoying head nudges and paws pinning him down with a minute or two of grooming where she is in total bliss...and then the inevitable fight breaks out where they have to be separated before the cat's bites get too savage. A true dog-cat sibling relationship! How cute are these two?! Can we all show our love for Maci and American?

Hey everyone! Today we would like to talk to you all about one of the vaccines we commonly get asked about! Leptospirosis - What is it? Leptospirosis, or Lepto for short, is a bacterial disease that is spread by wild animal urine. This bacteria can get into fresh water lakes, ponds, puddles, and soil and can survive there from weeks to months. Not only can your pet contract the bacteria by ingesting it, but it can enter their body through their skin, eyes, nose, and o...f course, their mouth. Some symptoms you’ll see in your pet would be loss of appetite, lethargy, fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and increased thirst and urinating. Ways for your pet to avoid contracting Leptospirosis would be to have them vaccinated against it. Another way would be to try avoiding high risk areas. If you think your pet may have contracted Lepto, please contact your veterinarian immediately to have them tested. This is Dexter enjoying himself by some freshwater while his owner is worry free since he has his Lepto vaccine! If you have any more questions or concerns, or would like to look into having your dog vaccinated against Lepto, please don’t hesitate to send us a message on Facebook, Email at [email protected] or call us at 663-5221

Hello everyone and happy Friday! Today we would like to share some information on Flea and Tick preventatives! Why is it important to use Flea and Tick preventatives? We all love taking our pets outside for some fun and exercise, but do you know the risks? Near and far, fleas and ticks live in the grass waiting for a host to feed off of. Part of your job as a pet owner is to do what you can to prevent these pests from latching on to your pet. ... We have two main tips for keeping these bugs from setting up camp on your pet! One is very simple - do tick checks on your pets the same way you do on yourself whenever they've been out and about! But unfortunately, that isn't a failsafe and they can be very tough to find on some pets, so it's great that we have another great solution! A flea and tick preventative! There are many types of preventatives you can give your pet to help fight off these fleas and ticks. Some of our favourite products that we carry are: -Bravecto (3 month flea and tick coverage - after the age of 6 months) -Nexgard (1 month flea and tick coverage - great for puppies under 6 months) -Revolution Plus (1 month flea coverage, some tick protection, and dewormer except for tapeworm) -Advantage (1 month flea coverage only) For more information on any of these products, or if you would like to look into purchasing any, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us! You can send us a Facebook message, E-mail at [email protected], or you can call us at 663-5221!
